Hope that Edwards Joins History and Joins Obama's Campaign

I am sad about John Edwards leaving the Presidential Race. I am hoping that he joins Obama's Campaign. I personally think he would make an outstanding VP for Obama. I think the two of them working together could really bring Real Change...and work on the Real Issues that really matter from Iraq to Homeless VETS, to Healthcare for ALL, to Katrina , to the Economy, to Homelessness and Houselessness, to the Jobless, and All Issues of Poverty, to Civil Rights, to the Patriot Act Atrocities.....

I have Hope that the John Edwards in all his Integrity and Wisdom will know how to best Help Our Country in these Troubled Times...and how to help bring Real Change.

For Those that Say " Edwards is dropping out- NOW I have NO Candidate".....
Shame on you....We have a Country to Save, OUR Country.....are you really going to sit home ?

You do indeed have a Choice...
You need to do the Research- go to Obama's Website and read ALL of his Work and Policies& Goals on the Issues....and LISTEN to his words, his videos.....and see his Sincerity and Honesty and Integrity.

And read his books...they are critical to KNOWING him....especially the Audacity of Hope....

It is Not About Race or Gender , it is ALL about WHO is the Best Candidate....period.

Thank you....

I heard Edwards say he does not plan on a VP but do not for a minute think he won't with Obama. Anyway I just saw this and wanted to make sure you got my responser to your last post on this.
Enigma
Have no fear, you and 6.6 rest easy! Edwards administers progressive ideas and has said in the past that as long as he was alive and breathing the voice of his supporters would be heard in this campaign.
I believe the man and that means he will be actively supporting and backing Obama or Hillary. I believe absolutely that it will be Obama as he is the person that will most likely unite America and bring back support to average Americans.

I expect Edwards would be better off just talking about the future of the US just now rather than endorsing a candidate. He is still an excellent candidate for VP regardless of the final presidential candidate.

I thought you might enjoy this poster artwork designed to support the campaign:

That one is sold out but I think there will be a new one soon.

I must admit... my candidate (Kucinich) has dropped out, and I was left undecided, but the Florida fiasco has tipped me toward Obama. Leave it to Florida to shake things up!

I don't see Edwards as second banana, I see him more as Attorney General, like Bobby Kennedy, he would really really rock that position...
Still, I wish he had stayed in, he really should endorse before super tuesday

I hope and pray that indeed he does endorse...in a way I think he will endorse after the Debate tomorrow night....maybe he wants to see if Edwards has Backbone( isn't that what he said in his speech today? about seeing backbone?) He would indeed rock either AG or VP - he would be excellent at either one....I agree that the Next AG has to be one with guts....

Blueberry:
ahhhh you know I am always searching for New Art- I will check out....I am sorry about Dennis...I hope that you do support Obama I know he will work hard for all os us....

Cart:
I think Edwards has found his calling, and Poverty tugs at his heart- and the plight of the VETS that are homeless and getting no care....I am not sure Hill has Spoken to THOSE issues in particular....Obama has , I hope he does in the Debate...if he does I think Edwards might Endorse him....I still think that he has a Future helping our country, whether it be VP or AG....we need him.....BTW I saw your other question about"suspended " campaign- that gives him time to pay staff- keep staff on longer- and even help them find jobs with the other candidates as needed..it is very much a manuver that is done to provide for his staff ( and again a very classy way to handle things....but it does leave the door open to keep staff with him for a while if needed...I think he did the same thing in 2004- but I am still trying to find the source that says that...)

Patriot:
Thank you for your input...and insights ...and your hope...I do indeed hope that Edwards is part of the Change to come...

I goofed- I MEANT that Edwards said in his speech that he hopes to see True Backbone in the Candidates that are left...

Edwards would make a kick ass Attorney General.

That would be my second choice if he does not get the VP nod.

I am still a little concerned about the health of Elizabeth Edwards. She is so strong but the cancer is unrelenting. I just don't want Edwards to miss time with his family in a role that will not allow him to do the good that he so wants to do.

In other words no crappy little ambassadorship for Edwards. If he cannot make a real change he should spend his days loving his wife and children and getting the most out of whatever time they have together.

Gryphen:
thank you for what you said...

I think VP or AG would be wonderful....I am rooting for VP...but hmmm, after watching the "AG" at the hearings today...well, I think he would be great at AG..((he certainly would be REAL and not sit and say " I don't Know " about torture...???? )))

About Elizabeth- they did indeed give it all to the campaign..and I am glad that they can go home and snuggle down together as a family...and that they can have some time together...I really do think that she wanted to pursue their dream together....that is what she wanted even while sick....I still think there is a role to come for him in the Next Administration..they both care deeply about this country...

I think because Edwards ran in the last election w Kerry, as VP, there would be a reluctance to have him on the ticket again as VP- he did not win it then, and he did not emerge as a presidential top runner (although he was invited to the debates, the media "kuciniched him" (cut him off, gave him little air time- he'd stepped on their corporate toes).
If something has not worked in either the distant or recent past, a new approach is needed.
I agree he would be a solid AG, or a Justice of the Supreme Court.

I appreciate his effort-- he put himself through a lot, because I believe he genuinely cares.

With the departure of Edwards my dog Winston is looking better each day as a write in candidate for President, Enigma.

Here's what I think will happen for Edwards though. Within the next several weeks, Edwards will a state he's releasing his delegates to one of the two remaining candidates. He will also direct his supporters to vote for his chosen person but w/o stating a reason.

If either Billary or Obama is elected an announcement will follow soon after the inauguration that Edwards is being nominated for U.S. Attorney General.

If his confirmation somehow fails his name will be put forward again to fill the first vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court in the years between 2009 - 2013.

Peace,
Cosmic

BTW: I just thought that I'd let you know that I've returned to blogging, but...

Blognonymous is dead.
Long live Ragebot!

Got a great crew. Even the Frogette is blogging with us. Hope you'll pop by.

Illinois Democrats close to Sen. Barack Obama are quietly passing the word that John Edwards will be named attorney general in an Obama administration.

In public debates, Obama and Edwards often seem to bond together in alliance against front-running Sen. Hillary Clinton. While running a poor third, Edwards could collect a substantial bag of delegates under the Democratic Party’s proportional representation.

Edwards then could try to turn his delegates over to Obama in the still unlikely event of a deadlocked Democratic National Convention.

The DNC seems to be shooting itself in the foot with it's punishment of states who changed their primary dates without permission, then had their delegate votes stripped. Since my State does not vote until May, I have to wonder if they will wait to print ballots (we vote paper by mail only- no more polling places!), and there will be very few names on the ballot? On the dem side maybe there will be a choice of ***one candidate***?
Back in the day when Keiko the Whale lived in our area, he got many write in votes for several elections!

"Shame on" us for not wanting to commit to another candidate less than a day after the collapse of the Edwards campaign? Can't we even have a few days to mourn the loss of a favorite candidate?

Not to worry, Enigma, I will vote in November as I have since 1960 as voting is in my genes. I will vote for anyone who opposes ShrubCo. However, after wanting Al Gore to run for the past year, then supporting Kucinich, then Edwards, who I actually voted for last week, I think I'm entitled to sit back for awhile and think about who I want to support without being rushed into the camp of either Hillary or Obama. Besides, November is ten months away and a lot can happen between now and then.

I'm going to be an anarchist, peaceful in nature, and observe the political scene from a distance. And, continue reading your blog for your insights.

Enigma, I still have reservations about Obama, but since I'm not an American, it doesn't make a great deal of difference. However, I don't think he is going to be tough enough for the job at hand. Time will tell, I guess, because it does indeed look more and more like he is going to be elected.

Heaven help you if McCain is elected President.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama raised $32 million in the single month of January, a staggering figure that has allowed the campaign to add staff and increase advertising to states beyond the Super Tuesday Feb. 5th contest.

Obama is now advertising in 20 of the 22 states in play for next week’s Super Tuesday and plans are the works to begin advertising in seven more states that hold primaries or caucuses later in February. By contrast, Hillary Rodham Clinton is advertising in 12 Super Tuesday states, including her own home state of New York.

Barack Obama’s campaign manager David Plouffe said the campaign attracted 170,000 new donors for a total of 650,000 donors overall. The $32 million raised in one month matches the campaign’s best three-month fundraising period in 2007, when the campaign raised $30 million in primary money and $2 million for the general.

The one thing about which Edwards was clear is that he wants us to support whoever the Democratic candidate turns out to be. He would be an excellent VP, AG or HEW Secretary for either of them. As an Oregonian like Fran, I have ample time to decide, because our vote is not until May. Now that there are no progressive candidates left, I'll take a close look at both.

I know you are sad about Edwards and that he would indeed be excellent in any of those rolls...I still think it is weird the way these primaries are held...I personally would love to see ONE Big Primary...but that will never happen....
( and Yes, I know that you are indeed a Researcher and that you will read up on both...)

Christopher:
Thanks for the great updates...you always have good solid info....the numbers of NEW donations and Money given is all about the Little People ( like me) finally feeling part of the process...these are people that can keep giving every month...

Josie:
He is plenty tough enough and smart enough...matter of fact he is intellectually in a whole another place and views the BIG picture with more clarity...We really need someone that has not been immersed in DC all these years...someone that has worked the streets and knows what the Common People are going through- from Jobb issues to Healthcare problems..etc etc..Get the Audacity of Hope- I mean it- it will change your life...that is how well written it is...I have re-read it as much as Profiles in Courage- before he was even a Candidate....( I got the book over a year ago- not knowing he was running- 6-6 got it for me for Christmas 2006)

Prof:
I read all over yesterday in Blogatopia that people after Kucinich and Edwards were gone -that thats it- they were done- not going to read, work or study any candidates....So please- know I was not saying that to you personally- I was saying it in general- by 6pm last night I was just sad to hear so many good strong people saying - that's it- I am DONE....After the Corrupt Chaos and Criminality of the last 7 years we need REAL Change...and it starts with us...6-6 is right it is TIME for NEW Sixties...esp. as we hand the next generation the Reigns....If we do not have Hope for Change - we have Nothing .....

I don;t believe in Anarchy....I do believe in the Power of the People and the Power of Hope and the Power of Change....

KVATCH:
Well Hotdamn...Holy cow and about time frog friend- I was getting worried....so good to see you...Welcome Back...and many warm welcomes to you and the Frogette ( I will add you to the Blogroll tonight).

Fran:
I don't understand the Primary or Delegate stuff well enough...I personally wish there was ONE big Primary for ALL of us..and held later in the year..so all could get to the polls ( this winter stuff is too hard on the elderly)....and I wish it was TWO days long a Friday and Saturday- so people could get there and not miss work...sigh...someday...and I do remember when Keiko was there- 6-6 and I came three days before he left to say Goodbye...and we bought a Vote for Keiko Bumper Sticker...( we thought it was great...)

Cosmic:
I would hate to see Winston have to serve in DC!!!! I think Edwards in the end will endorse Obama...I don;t see him endorsing or working with Hill, but I also think he is smart enough to value his timing of the Events.....I don't think we have seen the end of him or Involvement in OUR Govt....sigh..but I am still sad....but also glad that he will have some real time with his family....

See you all at the Debate tonight...( groan,...ANOTHER one???yup...and it is a Wolfie..I better get the Swear jars out..)
