Atleast someone cares about athletics.

With the world economy so connected, the protest in China, is more annoying to the bureaucracy, than threatening.

nice to see you renegade...

I am not into all the pageantry etc...But I love that people from all over can come and compete- that I care about....and the MSM and NBC trying to make massive money- that is something that really annoys me....

or the asshole King that is there as a "sports fan"...

but I know what it takes to train like that....it is alot of work...I really respect that...

(no wars ever broke out in a swimming pool...jus sayin')

...I don't like all the pageantry stuff...

My daughter sure did, we adopted her from China and at five she loved seeing the opening ceremonies and how it displayed a history of her birth country. Even now when we playfully ask her whether she is American or Chinese even now she shots back that she is Chinese.

Beach Bum;;;
that is wonderful,...( I wanted to do that so much...) good for you....I bet she did love it ....( I am just not a pageantry person...that's all- I love seeing the athletes get there against the odds...) But I do love the music and seeing the athletes together...and when they weave the culture in to the process...The military part was kind of scary ( for me anyways)....but I am so glad that your daughter saw it ( and that you shared it with her...)

my son was so interested in China from the time he was 5 on...so we studied it in depth for years....Asian Cultures are where my heart is.,...always....namaste..

Ingrid:::

Kissinger and Bush together on screen this evening...two War Criminals together, that was my comment the second I spied them greeting each other.

The gymnastics was just incredible. No one can actually do any of that stuff. It's magic.

My favorite is weight lifting.

BTW, my teenage son is Peruvian. He cheered the Peruvian contingent in the March of the Athletes, but he roots for the Yanks.

Substitute teacher:::

the Gymnastics was amazing...I had no idea that was going to be on...wow..how do they hang like that !!!

So cool about your son..that is wonderful...

( I root for whoever inspires me..or catches my heart...)

weight lifting - omg...too funny- they make me so nervous...I always think something will pop or something...

I love it all...I like watching it...track to fencing to swimming to volleyball and diving...etc etc...

One of the strangest stories from the Olympics is that of Becky Hammon, an American WNBA star who became a naturalized Russian citizen because she was never invited to play in the American Olympic basketball team. She played against the Americans in an exhibition game. Don't yet know who won.

I record it all so I don't have to see the McC ads, also I can zip through the announcers. Mark Phelps is on his way to besting Spitz! But boy did they mess up the national anthem, hunh? start it in the middle, cut off the end, who even notices?

I think I'm recording Olympic Tennis now. Got a tennis fan in the house who's following it closely, but we think NBC won't cover whole matches, just highlights, those things take hours.

DK:::
hey there....yeah...the Anthem...got out right before "brave"...too strange...and the prez there( I thought it kind of funny for some reason)...and yeah you better record the tennis for mr.dk. for sure....Mark Phelps was beautiful to watch...really amazing - he really is like watching a dolphin....

I fell asleep during the volleyball and now I don't know who won...oye...
