Great video of Hopper work. Some of those I hadn't seen before. You're right, it's the light.
I love his Cape Cod paintings. We bought a couple of prints last time we were up there. There are some places he painted that are still there and are recognizable from the paintings.

Hopper is one of my favorite artists. What a great find.
