Well, here we are and it is August, and sure enough Bush is having to deal with a Crisis Situation during his Last Vacation.( note there is NO Sympathy about That). He came out yesterday and gave a pissed off little tirade in the Rose Garden ( he also bungled it). We have seen no Hadley, and No Dick ( thank Heavens) and Condi is off playing Golf Somewhere. ( Interesting to note that she went and spent time in Georgia in July too...also was Rove over by the Black Sea in July ? jus sayin').....This AM Sarkozy went and gave a press conference with Mededvev which CNN broke away from, but it was run on CSPAN 1...We don't need another Cold War and a breakdown with relations with Russia...I don't know enough about the Georgia Politics and History, but as I posted below Ingrid at Blogger Roundtable has more info, I have also put links down below to articles that might bring some clarity.

I will post more links and information during the Day....on the Situation abroad in Georgia, Olympic Wonders,VEEP watch, and any other news....Open Thread in the Comments...

So was Watergate summer the summer of '73, or the summer of '74. Either way it was irritating because breaking news footage kept interrupting my saturday morning cartoons....

hey E...I continued my postings on the situation and the poli sci in me is kinda 'excited'. That said, I was in college during the whole Serb war thing and I am now beating myself up over not paying too close attention. I could say that I was busy with all my homework and being newly divorced (husband number 1), but it would've been good to have more indepth knowledge.. after the break up of Yugoslavia, there was a lot to be learned and kept track off, who's who, where and what. It's a study in its own right and I hate to tell you this, but the Clinton administration did their part for the military industrial complex.. democrat or republican, their official rationale might be one thing, but their ultimate interventionism and, this keeps coming up, American exceptionalism is still the same..

anyhoo...crab cake..hmm..sounds good, I'll be over after I made myself a second cuppa..

hugs

Ingrid
ps...thx for the referrals btw..I'm no expert still but it's nice to get some traffic..not for the ego sake (although one could argue that ahem) BUT when you feel you're posting on something that is of your own real interest, it's nice to know you're not just 'blabbin' into the empty 'sphere' and people actually read it, however little however much..

I linked you cuz you were covering really well..and that matters when shit is hitting the proverbial fan..( and it's not MSM is going to cover it in depth, they are going to give us the "BARNEY" version...I believe Knowledge is power...we all need more ;-)....its all we got..

Now on another note- I love your blog and I think that the more that people are connected and talking the better off we all are...

( the Crabcakes are my best thing I make...the are my special thing,....)

Dick:
Hey there...( ya know that little photo of Delay creeps me out - scares me everytime...like finding a rat in the kitchen - yikes...) Now about Nixon....the actual breakin was 72...( I think- I need to check on that..) and then it took a while for the hearings to heat up...Summer of 74 I think was that infamous Summer when the Hearings (which interrupted your toons...) then Bush actually resigned August 8/9th...and left on the helicopter...and then by the end of that month - less than 30 days after Nixon left- Ford pardoned him....which pissed me off forever...NO Justice...
and that was a long summer of reading Wapo everyday and watching the hearings....( yeah I was a load of fun...young teen...I wish we had computers then...wow.that would have been amazing..)

Oh, I love the MBs, even saw them play once!!

This Russian/Georgian/Ossettia mess is complicated. I have been trying to sort it out for days. Rumors that the US and/or Israel have provided munitions to Georgia, rumors that some oft the dead Georgians were really Americans dressed up as Russians...where is the truth, hard to know. Very disturbing, all in all.

A lot to think about huh? I was listening to the chief idiot and when I heard the dumb ass misspeak I was thinking did he just say that? He is such an idiot. He goes hand in hand with the idiot wanting to replace him. He mispronounced Saakashvili 3 times!
Anyway this again is all about the oil. I keep up dating this myself and the entire mess like everything else is purposely confused creating a gray are to cover the truth!

I saw a terrified and articulate Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on CNN Saturday, in great detail describe the slaughter underway in his nation by the Russian military.

The CNN anchor, flushed with his own importance, and continually interrupting the president, finally dismissed him completely with:

"Well, President Saakashvili, until our reporter on the ground confirms what you're saying, we really can't say it's true."

I almost fell out of my seat. But since MSNBC was covering the Communist Olympics and FOX Noise was bashing John Edwards, I had no other choice but to watch CNN and hopefully get a picture of what was unfolding.

CNN is really full of itself.

Patriot::
yeah...a mess..and he came out and gave his snitfit of a conference..and yeah, got russia and georgia messed up and then his snitty anger ( yeah, like being pissy accomplishes a damn thing) odd the night before on Bob Costas he said everything was honkydorey....AND yes. it is always about the oil..always.....

mariamaria::
I have no idea what is true ...I do always find anything that happens in August very suspect....and Bush is always spoiling for a fight with everyone...and shoot- if there is oil - that makes the situation so much worse...and then we are not told the truth or facts...

Dick:::
ahhh, so NOW you are even more pontificantly pompous...lordy have mercy on us....WHO will be next.....

Christopher::
oooops bumped into you- sorry...yes..CNN...they are not good on shit on the fly....things like wars and katrina really throw them...unless it is choreographed by Bush- like shock&awe they then thrown into a "journalistic" tailspin...( me coughing and gagging)

I will ask again...wasn't Rove on "vacation" by the Black Sea in July ?

Breaking News::
4:10PM
UN Ambassador says that the bombing has stopped= that Russia wants Georgia Prez to step down...

( Gorbachuv wrote oped and that the Georgia thought that the West would support him...geez I hope Condi in July did not do something so stupid.....??the commentator read that oped...)

Phelps is a freak of nature. Last nights race was retarded. He goes into the final turn down a half-length then emerges with a hlaf-length LEAD! How the hell do you do that??

Ingrid said...

E...the reason Sakaashvili thought the West would bail him out is because there were American troops in Georgia in July for 3 weeks. It was called 'Immediate Response 2008'. You could call it a considerable provocation on the part of the Americans..naturally, I wrote about it. Kel at the Osterly Times also wrote a couple of interesting things; http://the-osterley-times.blogspot.com/

yeah, Bush can not sit here and play the "gosh I am so shocked card"...and WHY was Rove vacationing by the Black Sea ? What and WHO was he meeting with in July....I want to know and I think Some BIG questions need to be asked....I KNEW there was something Creepy about the Leaders being at the Olympics and Bush kept saying" I am just going as a sports fan" ...what a load...He has been poking and prodding from the sidelines...AND Where is Condi? Still Golfing?

Bradda::
so .....Phelps is so amazing..wonderful...is beyond Human...gosh I have no idea....the way he can turn it on is unreal...

6PMNow on Cspan:::
David Cameron of Brit Conservative Party is speaking in the Rose Garden...I would say Bush is really feeding this fire and angst...Now he is speaking about Eco problems..

I flipped over to CNN and there was a clip of Condi speaking..I am confused I read yesterday that she was on vacation...

Now on CNN they are explaining the Oil and Pipeline mess...but they are trying to play it down...saying it is not effecting oil markets...

I am having trouble getting videos to run? is anyone else having this trouble or is it my computer ?

Gryphen said...

I just got my internet service to work again. Stupid modem!

And yes I have some trouble with embedded videos because I use Firefox and it hates windows media player, or vice versa, I cannot be sure.

But I have figured out a band aid solution for right now until Firefox releases some patch to fix it.

I've been watching to much of the Georgia Crisis,John Edwards fame out,McCain dirty tactics,Hillary whining,MSNBC sellout to the commies ,and Bush adding to his library of misstatements and presidential idiocy. Going to call the New Zealand embassy and look into expatriating and find a house on the very southern tip of the south island. Maybe if the world goes boom I wouldn't even notice.

enigma4ever said...

Hey there..
I too have been following all of it too...I am tired of this..and if McCain gets elected..I am out of here...period...

New Zealand is lovely..I checked it out when I was in my 20's....I don;t know about now- if you have apple, sheep or medical skills ...or movie skills...

we all always need to have a PlanB....sadly...

so how tired of this are we? how about you?

(1) Didn't realize Dr. Rice's a golfer.

(2) I don't think any tirades Bush puts on will convince a lot of the Russian brass that his administration had nothing to do with recent events.
