McCain's MaCaca Moment and the Post Mortem of the 2nd Presidential Debate....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If there was an Alnight Diner that was Open...we would meet and hash over the Debate....and read the Early Morn Papers....So here you go...
( CNN Transcript linked to the Title and and here.).
ABC declares it a WIN for Obama.... for the second time..
LA TImes Livelblogged it much better than me...
Then the Houston Chronicle really summed it up in a whole different light... And then there is a Poll Round Up.
Then David Corn had written yesterday that McCain is becoming a Hollow man, or shades or his lesser self..and losing his soul....in his synopsis he too recognizes some of the failings of this debate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

NOW my analysis of The Debate: Johnny McCoot had his Macaca Moment right there on that Putrid Red Carpet. Here are some other Highlights.

(1) McInsane suggesting a NEW Mortgage Plan ( even though it is basically a reshaping of the Bailout that is already on the table ? BUT he wants to spend 300 Billion MORE on a program that is already in the Current Bailout??? DID he read the current one ? I know he did not read the 3 Page Paulson, or the 32 Page Dodd one, or the 106 Page Senate, has he read the 440 House Version ? ahhhh not so much)

(2) The "FREEZE" again- again and NO ONE says anything about it...Daddy McWarbucks rambles on and on again in his best Doomsday voice about Bad Times, and says that he will FREEZE EVERYTHING BUT MILITARY SPENDING...( his OTHER big plans included Taxes to remain the Same- the Bush Plan, and CUT other federal Programs, and that included Medicare and Social Security....oh, that is good screwing the elderly- your peers Johnny)

(3) NUKE is his ONLY plan for energy ??? When Asked Question by nice young woman about Green Technology Plans to combat Global Warming he goes on and on about MANY ( atleast 45 ) NEW Power Plants and then rambles something about how there are NO PROBLEMS with the Waste ??? as HelenWheels Pointed out Mr.Burns would be so proud....actually he looked kind of like Mr.Burns....

(4) THE "THAT ONE" Moment....Creepy...Dismissive, Rude...and Disrespectful....NEW LOW ( NOW we learn this am from his Campaign- that is HOW he refers to Obama on the Stomp...Someone please explain to me- HOW does THAT make it ALL better???)

(5) HOW mean McCain was to Brokaw about the Treasury question...( and yet as the Debate dragged on I could not help but think that Brokaw really aspired this to be the Most Stifled Boring Uncomfortable Awkward Debate in History).

(6) McCoot pacing..and wandering...really looked really uncomfortable..and awkward...Does he wear Depends ? WHY did he keep wandering the Stage, usually when Obama was talking ? Did he lose his keys ? Did he need Meds ? What was going on?

(7) McCoot lied about his healthcare plan AGAIN....( Giving Americans SO Much Choice , they could travel to other States ?)
And yet he still used the "MY Friends" phrase Over and Over...I lost count...It is a phrase that should be taken out back and shot....to be put out of our Misery....

(8) The person who really got all the Extra time and first Questions was actually McCain....thanks Tom...6 "First" answers to Johnny,was that so he would not have to repeat the Question ? Or was it to alleviate the tension you could have cut with a Chainsaw.....( and some other Highlight "Gothcha" moments- were the "Nail Jello to the wall" moment which was thrown in there for ??? reason...and the "He Spent money on a Projector for an Observatory"....McCoot had his panties in a twist because Obama approved spending money on Science Equipment ?? Really ? yes, really.....I spewed mylanta on that one...)

(9) Obama really did look much more Presidential and handled the insults and Tom with grace, and answered questions about Economy, the Iraq Mess, and foreign policy better....And at the End....he and Michelle stayed and worked the crowd....shaking hands and thanking folks for coming...And Mr and Mrs. McCoot vanished into thin air...NO Thank You's to the poor prop Audience...

What are Your Thoughts ?....Because after Live blogging all 332 Debates of this Election year...I am thinking for the Next one we should have Firedancers, a Giant Gong and Ryan Seacrest "Moderate"...

BUT the Moment that really had me ticked....yup, when The McCoot REFUSED to shake Obama's Hand at the End....
So the Last Debate he refused to LOOK at Obama...now he shows even more disdain....Disgusting....even for a Grumpy Senile Old Man....

And Then the MaCaca "THAT ONE" Moment...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4 PM Update.....
I watched Obama In Indiana speak....the Market Rose, and earlier in the Morning....Biden Spoke in the morning , as fiery as ever....and the Market Rose....then this afternoon....McCoot spoke....( and so did Paulson)...and the Market Dove....down over 190 points....And the Highlight of the Speech ? Watch Below..McCain below...he is Supposed to say "My Fellow citizens".....Instead he says "MY FELLOW PRISONERS"....yeah....for real.
Nice summary.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned in regards to how Brokaw framed that Social Security question as "OMFG if we don't do something right away we're all going to die!" It doesn't do any good to take questions from regular people if you're going to let one of the village idiots choose which ones will be asked.
I want a button that says "That One"
Obama won the debate, as I'm sure most of us knew he would.
My concern now is the shady McCain Stormtroopers and what they might be up to on election day.
Let me start out by saying the *That One '08 logo" is hilarious! Lots of folks saying htat comment was condescending & derogatory. A new low for McCain.
Overall, I thought the debate was *A Yawner*.
I did not really hear anything new, other than McCain has gone back to saying *My Friends* in excess.
McCains Nuke & Drill plan does make him sound like Mr.Burns from the Simpsons. He & Palin think it's an EXXXXCELLENT idea. Nuke, Drill, Kill, Spill.
When asked about Social Security AND Medicare, McCain launched into a walk down memory lane.
Muttering something about how "easy" that will be & began naming names of other politicians who had previously crafted plans???
Excuse me Mr. Mccain! We need you to be in the here & now! FOCUS!!!!
We are in a "perfect storm"--or really, a worst case scenario:
• Baby boomer population coming into retirement age & lots of them. Higher demand for SS & Medicare.
• Major economic meltdown. Less $$ available.
• Health costs sharply on the rise. Higher cost.
• Basic cost of living continues to soar.
• SS money was already in trouble BEFORE this bailout. It was going to be 2/3 on the dollar. Now with the implosion of the economy, where is this $$ going to come from?
• Clearly now the idea of putting Soc Sec $ into wall street investments- stock market is obviously a moot point. The market is unstable.
McCain's answer-essentially others have done it with ease in the past was both lame and disturbing.
He may as well have said I'm going to wave a magic wand over a black hat & try to pull a rabbit out of it. Yea right- Palin can be his scantily clad assistant for this magic act.... wink!
Your comment about him betraying his peers (seniors) re Soc Sec $-- well, my friend, you see if you mingle with the oober wealthy, they are not worrying about the breadcrumbs of social security.... they are probably busy getting all their multiple bank accounts that exceed the FDIC guaranteed $100,000 into safer accounts-- as in Swiss, Dubai, etc....
When you hang with millionaires, social security money is probably pocket change for drinks & gambling at the golf/country club.
Clearly to McCain, the rest don't matter. Doesn't everybody make a million bucks??
What's the problem?
I just want to vote & be done. Get Obama in office & have some semblance of sanity & dignity at the helm.
There is a That One 08 site where you can buy shirts and stuff! I think Macaca Moment is a good analogy. McCain blew it, didn't even stick around for the photo op afterward. Hard to figure. Too angry/bitter/upset? No-talk Express outta there? What?
My fellow PRISONERS? And Palin behind him nodding in agreement!
Calling for a standard of clarity!!!!!
Ohhhh Ha Haaaaaaaaaa! I dyin' here laughing so hard.
Hey, at least McCain didn't call Obama "boy". For someone of his age and party affiliation, that makes him almost progressive!
With the world economy in a tailspin, who are going to borrow from for this?
Pelosi says $150B economic stimulus plan needed
DENVER - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that a $150 billion economic stimulus plan is needed now because of the faltering economy and she may call the House into session after the election to pass it.
More from MSNBC about McCain's Prisoner Day:::
"McCain brought up last night's debate, and received resounding praise after asking the crowd of over 7,000 how he had done. But today McCain put special emphasis on the rollout of his amended mortgage plan, which is largely an expansion of the housing plan he laid out earlier in the year with a significant increase in scope and costs.
The only other mention of yesterday's debate came when McCain hit Obama over his record on earmarks, but McCain made an interesting slip of the tongue before he got to the biggest charge.
"You and I together will confront the ten trillion dollar debt that the federal government has run up and balance the federal budget by the end of my term in office," McCain began, making his way to pork barrel spending. "Across this country this is the agenda I have set before my fellow prisoners and the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent."
Presumably McCain meant to say 'Americans' not "prisoners," but he didn't catch his mistake and powered on to criticize Obama for avoiding the tough questions in this campaign."
It's funny E, but it's also NOT. Is the rigor of the campaign trail toasting his brain cells?
Does he need a nap or retirement?
enigma4ever said...
or does he have brain mets ? and THIS is why we need to see those MEDICAL RECORDS....ALL of them...in detail ???
scary...
I sure hope they print up lots of nice big bills for us to use. Taking a wheelbarrow of $20's to the grocery store to buy a loaf of bread is SO annoying.
BadTux said...
Heh. You got it, Hairball. But Enigma asked how we were going to pay for all these bailouts, and Helicopter Ben has the answer -- fire up the printing presses, warm up the helicopters, and start throwing money out the windows as you fly along!
Thing is, things are so fucked up right now that even *that* might not be enough to avoid a liquidity trap and deflationary spiral, because throwing money out of the windows of a helicopter is a damned inefficient way of getting money to where it's needed...
enigma4ever said...
Badtux...you and Hairball are cracking me up...too funny....or is it real ???.....Oh well back to the basement to print more money....hairball can I borrow your wheelbarrow..I need to buy some rice and beans this weekend...thank you...
( maybe Badtux will fly over and throw some money at me...)
BadTux said...
Unfortunately, Enigma, it's real. Helicopter Ben warmed up the presses, fired up the engines of his helicopter fleet, and started buying up a trillion dollars in commercial paper (i.e., commercial bonds).
Think about it. A *TRILLION* dollars ole' Helicopter Ben Bernanke is tossing out the windows of his helicopter fleet after freshly printin' them up in the basement of the Federal Reserve. (Via the marvels of computers, he doesn't even need paper anymore -- just add a few ones and zeros to computer registers!).
BTW, Ben got the nickname "Helicopter Ben" when, asked about the paper I referenced above and posed with the question "what do you do if all the traditional methods of adding liquidity to the system fail," offered "if all else fails, I'll just jump in a helicopter and start throwing money out the window." It was a joke. But not exactly. It was the sort of gallows humor that central bankers engage in when everything looks so bleak that only the unlikely solutions are left.
