2 PM Updates:::
On the Financial Meltdown:::
More on the Wachovia Mess, I have been following this because I am tracking what effects School loans...Apparently Citi is not happy with the latest plan of Wells Fargo....more to come.. On Other Fronts, some Early Maneuverings have begun on the Mortgage front, and some interesting Entities are entering the picture.

The Job's reports came out , more than 159,000 jobs lost in Sept and 9th month of losses in a row, and is another piece of this Domino Effect that is in play. National Debt continues to grow, and hits a new level. This was not really made very public....

(Local TV station sent this notice out).
WASHINGTON -- "Congress has passed complex and highly criticized legislation authorizing $700 billion in government money to shore up the nation's stressed financial industry. The 263-171 vote by the House sends the Senate-passed version to the White House for President Bush's signature.Among many features, the measure would allow the Treasury Department to buy up bad debt from various lending institutions.Many members of the House voted for the bill even though some said it was not very attractive to them and to their constituents back home. The measure had been defeated in the same chamber on Monday, sending stocks on Wall Street into a record slide.Announcement of the vote was greeted by applause."

**[[My Comment:As a nurse... At this point there is no applause when very ill patient is resuscitated Again.There is a quiet worried intake of air...and an observant sigh...waiting to see what happens next....]]**

"It ain't that big. The whole United States ain't that big. It ain't that big. It ain't big enough. There ain't room enough for you an' me, for your kind an' my kind, for rich and poor together all in one country, for thieves and honest men. For hunger and fat."
John Steinbeck

This line is from Grapes of Wrath has been stuck in my head all week.....Gee, I can not imagine why. Time will tell what happens next, in our economy or the world's ...We can only go on and hope that it is enough of a wake up call that there is Trouble...and that People need to work together to look for Solutions. Is the "Economic Recovery Plan" going to help Middle America, homeowners, renters, small business owners, retired folks, families ? Is it too little too late...or is it the Bandaid that was needed? Time will tell....

We saw the Debate last night of Palin versus Biden, and we learned alot about Palin and what kind of leader she isn't. She has the depth of a Camp Fire girl chanting Lyrics and Limericks for extra credit for her Congeniality Badge.She did it with a cute smile and a wink, but no sincerity. We learned that she preaches Folkisms but lacks wisdom of any kind, even the ability to recognize intellect. She regurgitated Bushisms and Cheney Fearmongering with great precision.There is more below, the Debate was liveblogged by 20 on two different threads, enjoy, and then there is a final Post Mortem.

Also down below there is plenty to read and watch, the Financial Mess daily examined, Many videos of Palin and McInsane, as well as Dave Letterman's Responses to McCoot's Rudeness,the Katie Couric Interviews, Poverty and Tent City Updates, and even a really good Zucchini Bread Receipe, so plenty review and some soulfood served as well.....I try to keep you all updated and not inundated...take care of each other out there.....

Lyrics for "Clocks"....pretty perfect for these times..

"Lights go out and I can’t be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Brought me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead

Singin’, come out if things aren’t said
Shoot an apple off my head
And a, trouble that can’t be named
Tigers waitin’ to be tamed
Confusion never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna, come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know
Singin’, come out upon my seas
Curse missed opportunities
Am I, a part of the cure
Or am I part of the disease."

I don't know why but this song has been in my head all week....

Enigma, I was over at HuffPo reading this story about McCain's proposed healthcare plan and saw this in the comments:

olephart wrote:

"The CNN Money analysis of McCain"s plan stated that it only makes sense for those with incomes greater than $100,000 per year. Of course since that is much less than $5,000,000 per year, then you don"t have to be wealthy to benefit by it. I guess the 85% of Americans making less than $100,000 per year are s##t out of luck. If McCain"s supporters had been on the Titanic, they"d have cheered the iceberg."

Made me think of your comments about the current administration being a "Titannical Regime".

Wow hairball. That's really interesting. And scary. Thanks for posting that. He really doesn't care about any of us, does he? It would be great if the Obama made an ad out of part of that statement about McC's healthcare plan.

Just went to the Titanic exhibit at the Georgia aquarium. They had a list (and numbers) of passengers who survived and died from each class. Many more than half the third-class passengers didn't make it, so comparing McC's plans to the Titanic seems sadly apt.

Get your 4 hugs a day people, if you can. It does a heart good.
