THE DAY AFTER: MYSTERIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

{Originally posted 1.09.08 at 4pm moved to top of page}

**************************************
{ Click the Title:Obama 's New Hampshire Speech , it is the Most Inspiring and Hopeful Concessional Speech I have ever seen.And the Media won't reshow it and they should, because it is a Presidential Speech.}

First off my apologies, I was without Power all night during a wicked-ass wind storm here by the Great Lakes. So I am very late posting on this Primary Confusion. So I have been spending a chunk of the day reading articles, analysis and blogs. I am confused by last night. Confused how the Polls got the Numbers SO RIGHT FOR EVERYONE BUT OBAMA AND HILLARY. ( Look at the Final Numbers over on Tomcat.) And yes, I have Some VERY big Diebold Scanner Worries....But let's look at the Breakdown of the Events of the last 48 hours first.....regardless the Numbers are Huge, record setting and staggering and we do need to embrace the glory of that.

So here we all sit, pouring over the Data, which by the way only adds to the Headache....But the Other Angle that Must be examined is of course the Sympathy Card. As a woman, there is Nothing I hate more than having to examine then Manipulative Ploys by a Desperate Housewife.....I would much rather look and talk ISSUES. But Hillary brought it down to THAT level. So WHO did she Win Over with that Stunt ? Older women who took a break from Victim Movies on Lifetime ? WHO? And I am sorry but it did not look Sincere. But Fine , if she wants to keep Using IT, let the People see her Act and judge for themselves.
I think the Act will only provide some results for so long, and then she will have to reach for Another Stunt. And as a woman, I think most women will wise up and see through the theatrics. As a woman it is not respectable or respected to act like that, and it certainly is not Presidential. It is amazing if the Media had only played the whole tape, with her choking up and then thrusting into a venomous attack on Obama moments later, everyone would have really had a Moment.

We really need to LOOK at what happened the last 24 hours also, and try to figure out were we played ? played by the Media? or does it come down to Hillary 's Choked Up Moment ? Or was it the Attacks that she and Bill Launched on Obama the Man? Was it the Attacks that they launched that we the Public are not allowed to WANT Hope and Change? ( Hell they even dissed MLK and JFK and got away with it). I think if they stay Attacking people will only see WHO they really are. And as someone that once voted for Clinton, I was pretty shocked. Well, that shock will start to shake people, and they will Vote with their Conscience, not with Historical Loyalties.....Especially in the South.

Also The Clintons in the last 24 hours in New Hampshire decided that they would attack Obama , and attack People Wanting to Be Inspired, to Dream of Change and a Better America. They even attacked Obama for reminding People about Martin Luther King and John F.Kennedy. I find it hypocritical that the Clintons who ran on the HOPE Platform in 1992 would attack Obama and Americans that are inspired again, Hopeful Again. The Clintons are attacking Hopes and Dreams, and the Desire for Change, and also they are attacking an Important Moment in History. I don't know if that will bode well . Time will tell. But shame on them. And shame on Bill Clinton for calling this Man of Substance a "fairy tale", it makes him look pretty smallminded and not very Presidential. Both of the Clintons in the last 48 hours were not Presidential.

When People Watch and Listen, they want to see WHO is Presidential ? Who is a Person of Substance and Integrity.
So I have attached the Obama Speech from Last night ,because it was and is a Moment of Greatness that Needs to be seen and heard.

Please tell me your thoughts and observations, because we do need to look on this even as we move forward at enigma4ever AT earthlink DOT net.

BEST ANALYSIS: Go see Tomcat at Politics Plus....excellent Breakdown and demographic info.

8PM BREAKING NEWS: Richardson is bowing out.....hmmmm that was about 12,000 votes in New Hampshire or 3-5% that will now have to vote for someone else.

11PM : BREAKING NEWS: Bloomberg has decided to put together an Exploratory Committee.....

Your point about Hillary and Bill disrespecting Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy is dead on.

hey you can kick us and call us naive but when you start shit with our memories of those too icons you have fight on your hands.

And Hillary's point about MLK only having the WORDS and requiring President Johnson's ACTIONS to make a real change in racism in this country completely misses the damn point.

Johnson would NEVER have done anything about inequality in this country if he did not feel boxed in by public opinion shaped by Martin Luther King's WORDS!

You don't give the credit for a beautiful building to the carpenter, you give it to the architect. And MLK was the architect of the Civil Rights Act.

Hillary knows better then this, she does not think that we know better. And that is how little she thinks of those of us who dare to dream.

Wow...that was so well said, I had to even comment back....But it does come down to Daring to Dream....and No One can take THAT from us...It is OUR time...finally...

I don't see as big a deal as the MSM is making this out to be.

But was the MSM and their paid pollsters who got it wrong, and maybe JUST maybe it was because they asked the wrong people the wrong questions.

If the pollsters for what ever reason were asking the same number of young and old; men and women, questions, and a larger percentage of older women were voting (compared to their demographic population) the poll would be skewed because a smaller sample of a certain voter which went for Hillery was questioned.

If pollsters thought the pre-election polls were right and used that as a guide for exit polling that would skew the poll results, but not the election itself.

Remember in 1948 pollsters used a flawed methodology for picking the Victory in the presidential election. Harry Truman didn't mind.

There could very well be a lot of truth to people including older (over 40) women, which went by a significant majority to Hillery, getting fed up with the MSM anti women attacks on Hillery, and decide to vote for her because of it.

There could be truth the pre exit polls asked too limited a cross section of the electorate the right questions. Far too many polls change all the time to claim polls are right as much as people are claiming now about this primary election.

Remember nobody thought over 500,000 people would show up to the polls, especially the NH state election system, which had to RUSH extra ballots to polling places, because they didn't have enough for all the voters who showed up to vote, I bet EVERY pollster got the turn out numbers wrong as well, but that is not a "sexy story" for the MSM to run with.

I still think it was more the pollsters were wrong which they are quite a bit of the time, which is why they admit even though they wanna claim it is a science, in the end like all "soft sciences" there is a hell of a lot of ART to it.
it is trying to measure and explain a portion of human behavior, which is one of the oldest mystical arts known to man.

This could explain the results, and fits the Occam's razor , which I try to use when looking for explanations for amorphous questions with numerous variables.

The one hope that I am holding out for in Obama, is that he is still fresh enough in the game of politics that he will not succumb to corruption.

Because really, for me, thats about what it has come down to.

In the meantime - as a registered republican (hehehehehe) I will be voting for the candidate all the neo-cons want the least. And I will be pushing everyone else I know who have registered republican for that reason to do the same thing.

Its dirty, but hell - if they can cheat, so can we! Well, its not really cheating actually. I'm not switching my affiliation over to democratic after the election, or even during the primaries. Once Obama is chosen for the democratic candidate - then I can vote my conscience.

:) It's still a little underhanded though LOL.

Thank you for your well thought out response......I think to be honest alot of what you said is so true, the MSM is not good at perdicting or assessing scientific or math data....or remembering history...and you are right that indeed it is an art to interrept data and analyze it properly and it has to be done so that the Big Picture is appreciated...

and you are right over 500,000 people showing up??? unheard of...and it does show that people care...and want Change....

So in the History Books we can put that Bush is reponsible for the largest Turnout in our History...
at Primaries...( I wonder if that fits the Occams Razor...)

Anok: I have 3 rules about Voting
(1) Vote your conscience
(2) VOTE everytime..because it does count everytime...
(3) Vote like your life depends on it....

Tthank you for saying that you will Vote for him....I think he is indeed the Real Deal...and I have read his books...THAT is what really got me...that and I listened to my son and I heard what he said ( read the post below of the Jan 7th.....and that he said that this is THEIR Sixties...I think he is right)

Thanks Anok...

Keith Olbermann had a breakdown of the vote and the various polls and the way he explained it, the pollsters really weren't wrong, because all the different polls had as much as 38% listed as undecided before the vote.

Larry:
Thanks I am watching Keith for the second time, and I just saw that too....hmm..So DK is right the Undecided was too much of a pig to wrestle to the ground...

Enigma, i dont think the crying OR the slimy attacks won over any votors, i think they lost far more than they won.............the REASON I think Hillary won New Hampshire are

1) the demographics were far more favorable to her

2) she focused MORE on the number one issued to votors....the economy.

As for the crying that was as phony as a $3 bill, consider this when thinking how genuine it was

1) she said it right after claiming how tough and experienced she is

2) she played the smear and fear terrorist card like a slimy desperate repug like Bush. Rove or Rudy would............i'm sorry if it looked genuine that is one thing but that was the poorest most insincere acting job i've ever seen.

enigma4ever said...

Mike:
Thanks....I think that NH was a learning spot for sure...the demographics and also it was a different kind of state...

The real lesson, that there is for sure a battle and only hte american people will decide WHO to have....NOT the MEdia or the Pundits and talking heads...

hmmm, so there really arent 3 dollar bills ???darn...

but for sure we saw the Clintons...and it was not pretty...

Labels like this: "Manipulative Ploys by a Desperate Housewife" is one of the reasons Hillary won the New Hampshire primrary...people don't like name calling....

I have to agree that I thought the crying was a ploy, but she does what she has to do with all of this name calling; people have criticized her relentlessly, myself included, but she keeps coming back and she doesn't back down...gotta respect that.

Chris Matthews made a comment that if the election results in future states end up like New Hampshire, then someone needs to investigate the voting methods as they may be tampered with.

Sounds logical and like a neocon Clinton to me.

azgoddess said...

hey lady - back for a short and sweet comment - love what you had to say - vote your conscious...hugs!!!

enigma4ever said...

AZ:
Thanks...good to see you, many hugs to you too...

Larry:
I have no idea what Chris Matthews meant- to be honest- he has been making less and less sense these past few weeks..one minute he is rooting for Hillary and then he is bashing her...and then he is praising her .....he really is annoying,....

NO:

Please Read the post below , "Tears of OUR People", I did not namecall, I stated the truth...It is about WHAT she "cried" about that I have problems with....and she touts her experience- but her experience adds up to being Bill's Wife and being his First lady in DC and arkansas. and frankly no I don't respect her, she used an Emotional Ploy, and she attacked Obama and Hope ( so did Bill), and in the Debates she was shrill, None of this is respectable or Presidential, Don't get me wrong, I really wanted to able to atleast respect the First real woman candidate. But I don't and respect her.

More Importantly she is distracting from the issues at an important time. And her "solutions " on the Issues are what need real scrutiny, especially Iraq and her healthplan, they are not strong enough, and acutally very republicanish....her healhtplan is almost identical to Rudy.

Also if the Media would be smart they would look at her MONEY- please scroll down and read the post about her funds- she only has 10 million to go forward with her campaign- she used over 75 million in one state, that is too much. I want a President that will be careful with our money.

I want a president that I can be proud of and that does not attack other candidates....and does not attack Hope or that we all have the right to dream and have hope...she is attacking the Candidate of Change...it reeks of elitism, that all of us that are suffering aren't allowed to Hope.....

yet in 1992 she and Bill ran on the HOPE platform...

Very sad.

The Diebold Machines this time have a paper trail. There is no controversy about machines in NH.

I posted about Obama. I think you should see it. I don't think he's who you think he's.

Dear Renegade,
I have thoroughly compared the candidates- esp Hillary vs Obama on Healthcare and Iraq, I have looked at other issues from dipomacy to education to economics, I don't agree with Obama on everything- but the main issues- Iraq and Healthcare ( which are also the two largest effecting our economy) Their policies are different.....I read your piece- I will have to look and see about the team that is listed there- I am not familiar with them and also had not heard their names before...so I will have to do research...

Another lesser issue is the Patriot Act and the Justice System, and how americans have been spied on....this issue has been poorly addressed by Hillary, but Edwards and Obama have both addressed that it will be resinded and changes will be made to bring back our system of justice- this is an issue Hillary won't even discuss and would not even answer questions on in Illinois..matter of fact she did not really answer any/many questions on it in Illinois.....

I think the Clintons will now use the Economic issue as a wedge and also to fearmonger- it is horrendous that they would do that...but they already are...

It is wrong to not discuss or solve the Economics without talking Healthcare....47% o ALL Bankruptcy is healthcare related...

Bottem Line we need Some really good Debates that are ISSUE focused about all of these issues....
so we can really learn about what these candidate plan and how strong they are on their policies...

enigma4ever said...

Renegade :

also , about Economics, please do read my post below, about her Fundraising and lack of money and sponsers....her campaign spent 75 Million dollars JUST IN IOWA....that is too much...and there needs to be some questions asked about it...

After having Bush and his spendthrift ways I am really budget oriented...and Accountability is a big deal.

Larry said...

I would think if Edwards were to break out of the pack it would be in blue collar Michigan.

Chris Matthews is as slimy a talking head as there is..
Olberman told us it was the undecided, so hold your horses on the conspiracy stuff
Hillary is not the enemy
it's the OTHER People with (R) next to their names
I don't think the show of emotion was fake, She has been pilloried for 20 years from the left, right and center, I think her emotion was real, and NO I don't think she killed Vince Foster or that she and Bill smuggled drugs from Mena Airport..........
I'm just sayin!

enigma4ever said...

Thomas:
Well, we differ about whether she was showing sincerity....read the post below...I just want them to talk issues....and I am sorry, I am still mad at her about the MLK/Lynden Johnson comment...I don't want to see the process to deginerate into namecalling, and slashes...I want to see it focused on ISSUES...I for one have never said or thought negatively of her until this election...

About Chris...yuck..and his conspiracy stuff....I did ask about the Diebold issue ( well, frankly because I live somewhere that has Diebold scanners- so I want to know....)I really don't get Chris , one day he is all syrupy and sweet and the next he is awful...I don't understand what the heck.....As to the polls- I think DK is right, I think the Independents were a large number and too unpredictable a group....and hence - that is why I think sadly Bloomberg is now eye-ing them.....urgh...

enigma4ever said...

Larry: I would love to see how he is going to do in SC and also Michigan...( I am confused- I heard today that the Repugs are having their primary there soon....don't DEMS too ? )

enigma4ever said...

okay I am testing this post as well..

D.K. Raed said...

quick note: NV caucus is Saturday 1/19. SC Repub primary is also Sat 1/19. SC Dem primary is Sun 1/20. I gotta say, Sunday is a bad day for voting in a very religious state, so I'm already wondering about the Dem turnout.

And here's something strange: NYT reports the DNC has denied ALL delegates for both Michigan and Florida because they were ORDERED not to jump up their primary dates & they did not comply. They are showing ZERO delegates assigned to MI & FL to be counted at the convention. I'll email you the story.

D.K. Raed said...

oops, correction: SC Dem primary is 1/26, which is also a SATURDAY. The SC Repub primary is a week earlier 1/19 (same day as NV caucus). Sorry for confusion! But I STILL want to know why MI & FL dem delegates have been stripped.

enigma4ever said...

They were suposedly stripped for moving their dates up ? But I really don't understand. ( a saturday caucus is interesting, and might bring more people, I guess)
