~Alki Beach looking across to Seattle~
I miss Seattle...The Summers there are beautiful....you can walk down to Pike Place Market and eat Hombos and Seafood Chowder and it smells like the sea and fresh coffee and scones...and there is a really amazing news stand above the market that has papers from everywhere....and there are street musicians....and fresh fruit and vegis for sale at the market.....and you can watch the Ferries come and go....and the seagulls sweep and dip....and the Sunsets hypnotize you....

I'm almost afraid to ask what "hombos" are?
DK...
they are an Asian treat...they are either Korean or Vietamese- they take these big fat dough rolls- very chewy and in the center is cooked beef- the beef is cooked with ginger, hot mustard, yellow curry, pepper, and maybe some nutmeg and cinnamon.... and is saucy so when you bite down the juices ooze out of the center....They smell sooooo good and oh when they ooze, there is nothing like it...they sell them at carts at the market...
sounds delicious! and alki beach, well pardon me, but it sounds like it might have a few taverns nearby.
you know I don't know...but it had amazing chowder...clam and seafood...and french fries...big thick fries...the kind that you can dip in the chowder ;-) and there is plenty of icecream - soft serve...the kind that drips...my son always used to point out that the Gulls on the West Side of Seattle by that beach are twice the size of the gulls over by Downtown Seattle- now gee I wonder WHY????
I adore Seattle.
I keep hoping the housing "correction" hits Seattle -- selfish as that may be, so we can move there and buy a house in January. Even a modest house.
But alas, no dip in housing prices in Seattle.
It seems everyone loves Seattle and the market just keeps going up, up, up and away. Maybe we will just stay here. Here isn't so bad and it's just so damned affordable.
We saw a 4/2 raised ranch, in Hamlin, just east of Rochester up on Lake Ontario, 2 car garage, and beautiful grounds on 8 sprawling acres for $149,000! A similar house on acreage like that in Malibu would command $15 million, in the San Francisco Bay area or in Seattle, several million.
Here, people can own a home without being Hasselhoff rich.

I do remember when Housing prices did used to be reasonable in Seattle and the NW....but that was a long time ago...in the late 80's.....and then in the 90's the housing market went nuts...the dotcom era....and it still is incredible there- I have friends there and when it starts to get sane......and drop to a normal level you will be the first I let know....promise...'
The raised ranch you describe...omg...that is amazing...and if you can find jobs and neighbors that make it all work and feel like home....well....that is Something....
Sadly I think the next year will determine what happens to the housing market in this country....
Beautiful song! Sounds like it goes well with your memories of Seattle. Could be Boston or anywhere here about too.

well , if you are gonna be homesick , may as well have music for it , ya know? It 's a passing thing...just a thing...I miss California and the NW- comes and goes....I can make myself home anywhere- have no idea WHY it would hit...but ce la vie.....Hope you had a good weekend ;-)
yeah I know! I am comfortable and at home anywhere! Home is wherever I am to me. Weird I guess but as you know, where you go you make a private spot like your garden spot, a place in the fields, the woods, by the ocean. luckily there are many pleasant options. Yes it was a beautiful weekend just barbecued chicken. Hope you guys got out and relaxed. Take care!
