All Along I had supported Leahy and the need for a Truth Commission, but I was thinking that it was an Eithor OR situation....After going to the Website linked to the Title, but also after listening to Jonathon Turley it made me realize that it is possible to have BOTH....Truth and Prosecution. Bush and Cheney acted as Tyrants, and in true Tyrannical Dictator fashion they even used the Justice System and the Military to act against OUR Citizens. We have always had Laws against such action, and they acted against those laws and even attempted to re-write those laws to both empower themselves and to protect themselves. We need Transparency and Not a Lengthy Behind Closed Doors Investigation, we need it to be Publicly Held, much like the Nuremburg Trials after WWII, and yes, there must be Questions Publicly asked.
There is a lengthy list of WHAT was done in Our Names, Warrantless Wiretapping and Spying on Communications,Renditioning nad Torture and Gitmo and Black Prisons,Fabricating and lying about WMD to wage an Illegal War. At this point in time we should also ask HOW many Agencies were used to spy on Citizens, Us, NSA and WHO else ? ( Military Police ? CIA ? FBI ?). WHAT did that cost ? We paid Millions to have Ourselves Spyed on? ( And is our Economic Plight due to the Illegal Iraq War ?)
Criminals ran this Country and destroyed the fabric of WHO we are as Country....

This is what Bob has been pushing at the site I was telling you about. We don't need the Truth commission.. we know the truth.. just prosecute... We know they tortured.. just prosecute.. why do we need to investigate or anything else.. we have already done that.. we have people in prison for it already so we know it was done. We have the proof.. just finish the job.
sadly we still need the Truth Commission to gather Evidence...the more the better....know this we still have alot o dumass Palin McShame lovers out there...and the spying they did on citizens here in the states- I know this- extensively...more and worse than we know...that is why we need the Truth Commission...

I read two great articles in the NY Times about this, then perused some of the memos. As a non lawyer I was flabbergasted and then realized just how lucky we were that they were not kicking in peoples doors, using deadly force, and suppressing free speech as obviously they were convinced they had every right to do.
Karl and Harriet are going to get deposed I guess thats a start but a lot of us are waiting for the sentacing phase!

they did ransack people's homes...and surveill citizens...I know more about this- it will be in my book....it is worse than you think....( and there are many ACLU lawyers and Human Rights Watch folks that have "stories" as well..) Things were much worse than people know...especially if you were targeted or tagged in any way...( and many activists were...)
We were definently living in a Dicatorship....
These memos are just the begining I hope of the release of all documents related to what BushChenney were responsible for. Personally I would like to see both of them carted off to the Hague. Time will tell, but history will hopefully judge them for their actions.
