DEAR CNN, WHILE YOU WERE BUSY PLANNING YOUR SO CALLED "COMPASSION " FORUM, YOU COMPLETLY IGNORED THE COMPASSION CONFERENCE BEING HELD IN SEATTLE ....

"Compassion is Not an Emotional Response , but Firm Committment founded on Reason"

Dear CNN While Cloaking oneself in "Compassion" and then holding a "Forum" on it , is definently teetering on some Journalistic VERY Shakey Ground. I am also concerned that Only Christian Leaders were allowed or participating in the Questions. I did not see any questions raised by Other Spiritual Leaders there asking Relevant Questions. So sadly this leaves those watching KNOWING that Other Religions don't Count in Any Equation. I found the Questions were Mostly oriented in Evangelical Right Wing Christian Political Agendas: Celibacy and Celibacy/Abstinance teachings related to AIDS prevention, Creationsim Vs. Evolution/ Teaching Science....etc etc. ( and a Chance to Quiz Obama on Muslim issues, and Rev Wright, and about his own mothers death- which seemed totally rude).

I am sorry, but if you want to hold a Christian Conference ,so you can test the Candidates ability to be Religous enough, don't pretend that you are holding a Conference on Compassion.....and Next time INVITE all Spritual Leaders, Muslim, Buddhist, Sikh,Hindu, etc.

By the Way while you were airing your Charade, there was an International Conference on Compassion in Seattle, called the Seeds of Compassion held in Seattle this weekend and this week. The Honored Guest was the Dali Lama. I noticed just like Tibet , that you did not cover this Esteemed Exiled Leader, in either his arrival or his messege. You also have been having difficulty covering Human Rights Abuses in Tibet.

CNN My Question is When are you Merging with FOX ? or did it already happen?

BTW Obama handled the Conference with dignity and grace....and answered the questions with humanity and vision....

( So CNN I think you need to acknowledge that Obama can Handle ANY adversity you want to throw his way- and while you are at it- if Campbell Brown is SOooo good at these "forums" she does not belong covering "Politics" she should go work for CBN)

This is a continued problem in our country. Religion means only talking about Christianity. It appears to me that the Dems are spending a lot of time and energy courting the Christian vote. While I know this is necessary and I don't neccessarily think it is a bad thing, I have noticed a marked neglect of acknowledging other faiths.

It felt more like Crappassion than Compassion to me. The questions were crap, and it is hard for a serious candidate to answer crap questions. "name a time when you were personally felt the spirit of god" ... please spare me, I thought "no test for religious office" was supposed to shelter the public from this type of gross display of pander.

That said, I agree Obama attempted to answer specific questions with more than rote-sundayschool-pablum. He even included Atheism as another form of belief. This was important to me because the lack of belief IS an important right to protect. There was a rabbi who asked a question, and after that Hillary kept referring to her judeo-christian faith. Before that, she was all Methodist. C'mon girl, am I not supposed to recognize pander when I see it?

And you are right, how will we know when CNN merges with FOX? When they produce the Hannity-Blitzer Hour of Power, wherein Wolf cures Aids by rubbing his magic beard, or Sean personally adopts all abandoned children and their homeless puppies?!?

DK:
omg...you had me laughing sooooo hard...I blew pepsi....I know Pandering at it's finest....and you are right Atheism should be protected as well- shame on me for not saying that....( I listed other religouns that were also left out)....but CNN has definently gone down hill....( I have this theory that CBS is pursuing Anderson Cooper for the News....no offense to Katie_ but anyways...he has been on less and less..and he HATES the way certain stories occupy too much air- ie Brittany and Anna Nicole).

Angie:
they do neglect- and it really hit me this year esp in their pathetic Coverage of Human Rights Abuse in Burma and Tibet- I actually felt they got WORSE coverage because they were Buddhist...But having a Religous Conference ? call it what it is ....DK is right the Crap question factor..( but please the Compassion?????what like Compassionate Conservative Movement ?)

Okay, so I felt the spirit of god the first time I did a line of cocaine... oh, sorry, not what they wanted? Umm, let me try again. I swear, when I saw that incredible pair of boots I threw my hands up and said "THANK YOU JEZUS!" No?... Ummm, Oh, PLEASE, God, let me meet Alan Rickman and seduce him, please, I promise to keep kosher again, really I do...

Oh, fugedaboudid, I just guess I don't meet the Christian Coalition's definition of compassion.

Well Diva- I ended up spewing pepsi all over - thank you very much......omg you made me laugh sooooo hard....

Now Hmm , Boots and shoes for me can be a religous experience ( hey when one wears a 10AAA....Finding REAL shoes is a Feat....ok..horrible pun).....

I love that Hill attends the "Crap-Passion Forum "(as DK aptly call it)....the same weekend she shares her great Gun Toting Tales of Her Annie Oakley Youth.....and geeeez add a little Geesus and call it good eh? and her Pantsuit Timing is of course Impeccable...

CNN is following in the footsteps of FAUX, I'm sorry to say. Not a good look! Not good for a democracy (is America still a democracy?).

I admire your spirit, Enigma. Keep fighting. Your example may inspire other Americans.

Cheers.
