HAPPY ARBOR DAY....

Last Friday of the April...Plant a Tree this weekend....I am holding off for a week, we are supposed to have cold temps and snow Monday and Tuesday ....So that gives me more time to decide what I want....I am torn...It has to be Something that will go nicely with my Lilacs...a Rhodi to satisfy my Northwest heart...or something Exotic...like a Lemon tree ...or a Peach Tree.....Camille....I want my porch to smell Heavenly this summer....like Gardenias, Lemons, Lilacs,Jasmine.....and maybe some yellow roses...Now if I could get inspired to go find my shovel....

enigma- shhhh.... i may be moving soon- so i will wait too ;) i am looking at at least one lilac tree- i do so love them- and some fruit trees eventually. i am blessed with 2 tree lines at the (hopefully) new place and a big beautiful tree in the backyard of the neighbor's yard here.

Betmo....
I am sorry to hear about the Moving ( unless it is a good move-like to a better place)...But I know how hard you have worked on your place...But 2 tree lines at the new place- that sounds lovely....and a big tree in a neighbor yard ( Someone else gets to sweep those leaves ;-)

The house I live has trees, and I am very grateful....and it has an old Lilac tree/Hugeass Bush by the front porch- that almost died last summer....but it looks to be on the mend now....and even has blooms right now...I am worried because if it snows on monday ( yes snow is perdicted- that will kill my poor bush)....I have not planted anything yet...I am waiting- I can't afford to plant it and watch it get frozen....so I am waiting until May 1st....

Keep us posted about the Move....namaste..

Take care of your trees, before long there won't be many left.

we planted 2 little lilac bushes last fall. good news is they are all bushy & green now. bad news is between the 2 of them, there's only one blooming stem of lilacs. well, it's only their first yr in the ground. The TX Mountain Laurel I planted 2yrs ago is covered in violet-blue lilac-type blooms.

you think a lemon tree will grow there? it gets too cold in our high desert for them, except as a patio container tree that can be protected. I miss the citrus trees of So Calif. I miss rhododendrons & camilias from my NW days, too!

Sadly we don't have room for another tree on our property...I would love a lilac.

Fleetwood Mac always reminds me of college days...as does Seals & Croft's Summer Breeze album, which really means spring to me. I remember sitting outside studying for exams with someone's stereo blasting Summer Breeze out a window.
