PALIN CUT FUNDING TO TEEN MOMS IN HER STATE- GEE I AM SO SHOCKED...

So she cut funding , are we shocked ? no , not really....disgusted might be a better word. This woman is not going to get the Mother of the Year Award after all... Linked to the Post is the Raw Story Article:
[Snippetts below}
"The Washington Post revealed Tuesday that Alaska Governor and McCain vice presidential pick Sarah Palin, whose 17-year-old daughter Bristol is pregnant outside wedlock, earlier this year used a line-item veto to cut $1.1 million (22%) in funding which would have at least partially benefited teen moms in need."

"The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," Gov. Palin told Eagle Forum Alaska in a 2006 questionnaire in an expression of support for "abstinence-only" sex education."

I don't so much care about the candidates kids antics, but the in your face irony of this failed program is uncanny.

Add another issue to the list of republican failures.

This is hypocrisy at its most vile.

Especially since we all know that Palin's teenage daughter was already pregnant when she made this decision to keep other teenage mothers from getting the care and support they need.

You know not EVERYBODY has a mother willing to pretend to be pregnant for hem.

I'm all caught up on your entries; have confirmed so much information about Palin thanks to Google and others who've sent me solid and reliable links.

After listening to the 'women' at the Republican National Convention try to justify Palin's situation as a 'normal household' - that 'life happens', and that most of us can relate to her various problems because it is the 'norm', really disturbs me.

If we allow this to become the 'norm', we LOWER the bar for family standards and for eligibility to SERVE A HIGH POSITION IN PUBLIC OFFICE.

If they want to keep lowering the standards in this country (which is obvious these past 30 years), we can be assured our country will definitely continue to the respect of other nations, and go further into financial debt, decline, and disrepair.

As I said, I'm much more apt to believe from the research I've done is Mercedes and her brother (Levi) were good friends with Track and Bristol. Mercedes is holding a baby named Trig - what are the odds of that being the same baby as Sarah's and yet it appears she's represented it as HER baby, and Sarah is called the mother-in-law as is Bristol is called her sister-in-law.

I'd still bet Mercedes was pregnant with Trig; Track is the father (they're both the same age). The child is born 8 months AFTER Track joins the military. Getting Track 'out of town; the baby is waiting to be born, and Sarah decides to cover the fact that Track has fathered a child out of wed-lock, and that is the same child most people think Bristol had.

If you speculate Sarah has now 'covered' the birth of Trig, she now winds up with Mercedes' brother (Levi) now the father of Bristol's child. I guess you could say it's all going to be one big happy family and it won't matter who claims to be the mother; the mother-in-law, or the grandmother.

For all of this, to call this the norm by the media and many Republican representatives at the RNC, continues to 'tolerate and justify' actions of both the parents and the young people of our country who already have shown lowered morals (there are enough statistics to confirm that).

The ruin of our country is with our youth and their parents who condone such things; America continues to be endangered by a different 'kind' of citizen - a citizen who thinks that 'freedom' means 'free-for-all'........../ds

I applaud your wanting to get information out to the public but please try to move beyond one blog for your information.

She is for abstinence first and "pro-contraception" and said condoms ought to be discussed in schools alongside abstinence. [LA Times]

According to Education Week

"A second part of the measure raises spending for students with special needs to $73,840 in fiscal 2011, from the current $26,900 per student in fiscal 2008, according to the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development."

I appreciate the Links...

Just to be clear , most posts on Palin are from a variety of Sources, and even her own Government Budgets for the State, if you read all the posts on her you will see that...so your links will be used.

I am a nurse- so I appreciate your Education Links, that I would not have known of otherwise.

thanks...

this person wants to be VP it is up to us the Public to educate ourselves about her and her work for her state, since she was so poorly vetted by McCain,

And one more thing Walt- her actual ENACTED budget for 2008 does indeed verify that Funding for Special Needs Children and Programs for their families was cut- sorry to tell you that the "measure" you quote was not enacted- atleast not in 2008.....

So what is "Proposed" does not help children currently in Need.
