Beautiful Honest Painful Article about Racism

This article is so well written and beautifully says what many of us have been saying....and are concerned about. I have gotten calls from abroad, people asking me, HOW Racist is America...and the thing is , I don't know....it worries me more than I can say.
It worries me every day...is there a White Man's Privelege that is discoloring this Election and is a silent Battle that is raging within..... Are We Trapped in the Fifties and we don't even know it ?

And other peopleare writing about it too, especially about McCain's New Ads. I guess I am not the only person that thought McCain is catering and pandering to the Klan. And how he talks about how Obama is not patriotic enough,.....it is No Longer about "Patriotism".It is about a Nationalistic Agenda and Language, and people need to wake up....Watch this ad and you will see What Language is used. Then watch the video right below, supporters of Obama made it, it is about What Patriotism really is...ALL of us are Americans...NOT just some of us like McCain and his cronies are saying...

I wish you were wrong, but you know it's true. This is still a nation full of bigots.

Hey there...I am in Ohio.,...the ONLY McCoot supporter I have met - my plumber- admitted he could not vote for a Black man....we had quite a discussion....I felt Sick...

For the most part- my whole hood is scared of MCCain- think there is Something wrong with him and his brain and they are sick of bush..and they equate him with Bush....

But the ads that MCCain made this month were ugle and racist- totally disgusting and playing here ALOT.....

That was a great article (and the comments left for the writer were also thoughtful).

It provided an answer to all of those on the right who scream "it's not about racism! It's about expeeerriiience." The article explained what I've felt throughout this campaign: the people on the right are so entrenched in racist-think that they would not even be able to identify racism if it walked up to their front door and rang the bell.

Because racism is lynchings, and separate bathrooms and water fountains, and forcing blacks to sit in the back of the bus, right?

I think Obama is actually doing extremely well considering 10-15% (of course my estimate) of the people in our country are devout racists. How many more people are racists of the more subtle variety?

Many, I would think. What if all these racists make up half of our country? What if it half plus 1?
I really think if Obama had been white, he'd be WAY ahead right now - McCain wouldn't have a chance.

And I think it is racism (not necessarily a message of hope or change), that has led to this race being - generally - the relatively olds against the relatively youngs. Perhaps younger people are less racist overall? I hope so, for the sake of future peace and justice in this country.

so interesting what you said...and so well said..

my son said the same thing about the Young People are not being considered in the equation, he also said that the Poor have to rise up...( yeah, he has been reading about class warfare of other eras...) but he pointed out that racism is fear based, the young and the Poor are not Afraid of Change....and their Courage could shake this election....He is in his teens- but he is onto something...
