7PM HURRICANE IKE REALLY HAS PICKED UP FORCE DURING THE DAY.....

7Pm to 8PM Update

Please see posts below, storm has really grown during the day. Compare the two Sattelite Images. ( it is almost a CAT3, only 2 MPH shy of CAT3, and even over by NOLA the winds high, and the Surge will reach how far across the Coast).It is definently Bigger than Katrina....Scroll down for more information.By 8PM it reached 110 MPH, which is CAT 3.

Sadly it looks like the pressure is dropping in the center, and tightening outer ring- so that the pressure must be low- and that means it will hunker down over Galveston and Houston through the night...
with >100MPH winds- sustained...

it is 98 miles SE of Galveston now.

Updgraded to CAT3 at 7:50PM.....again the News People are critisizing the people that did not evac yet- Something to remember- NOT everyone has a place to go or money for hotels or fuel to leave....and also pets are still an issue.....

Also it was only today that the Storm that was really graded....we are still unsure of HOW many people are in Galveston tonight....
