Enigma: I am so pissed off over these Ohio voting clusterfucks. They are absolutely 100% on purpose. Nothing else makes sense. How could this many fuck-ups happen in one election yr? I have been a registered voter in Ohio, in the same county since I turned 18 yrs old (which was in 1992). I vote EVERY single election... NO MATTER WHAT. I have never experienced voting problems until the Thief and Chief slithered into office. I have called my Board of Elections for 2 days in a row to know if our absentee ballots were delivered since the local news is saying that the amount of postage we were all told to put on the ballots (per the Board of Elections letter included in our ballot packet) was inadequate. I have been told that they would take my name and number and get back to me. Have they gotten back to me? N-O. Tomorrow... I am going down there with my 4 yr old kiddo, and I'm gonna wear the tightest shirt I have so everyone in there will see if they get rude with me, that they are doing so to an expectant wife and mother. Hubby and I photocopied our absentee ballots before we mailed them in. I'm bringing those with me to demand to know if they recieved our ballots since we mailed them in last week. So far, I've been told that they can't tell me if they've even recieved our ballots. When I ask why, I'm given a very vague answer. I won't be vague on Thursday.
I decided to go early vote tomorrow. Hope I encounter no weirdness. My head feels like a kettle drum (thrummmm) after reading Tina's voting problems (also Kvatch has put up some things to watch for on his blog). Take cameras & document!
I second your thoughts on Dada & Newsguy posts! Different subjects, but same underlying thoughts. We have no more real news (instead we have an echo chamber of nitwits reading daily talking points). We have no more real democracy (instead we have dangerous sociopaths threatening anyone who doesn't agree with them). We don't have much time, this may become permanent unless we take it back NOW. ~~ D.K.
Wow...Tina- what a nightmare....I am posting my Election Saga this weekend.....It is a 5 year doozy - yes it began when King Dubya arrived- I am part of a report that was filed and tracked with the ACLU and Feinstein's office in California 2004 ( there were over 10,000 that were tracked nationwide, I can't remember the exact number)- and here it has been a continued nightmare...No voter card sent, no absenttee ballot sent....and I am being sent to the wrong precinct to vote over in Heroin Alley.....And I have to come up with a Kiss the Pope amount of fricking "ID" to see if I "qualify" for a friggin provisional ballot....and Friday I am going to the Election office in person and try to get an Absentee ballot or Provisional or Something....I have photocopied everything, and yes, I am taking CAMERAS to the poll- THREE....I have only missed ONE election since I was 18 and since I have lost pretty much everything in the past five years under this Hellhole Criminal Regime you can bet your sweetass they are NOT getting MY VOTE..... I have had it with the Lies, the Corruption and between Katrina, Iraq, the Homeless , the VETS, the elderly and sick here , the no frigging health insurance,the suck job market....WE NEED CHANGE....NOW....
DK: hang in there - sorry about your head...we need Change on so many levels and I too agree the clock is ticking....and yes, the Media sucks in a way I could never have envisioned....I sent Dada 's post off to Keith, was bitching to son about how the Media doesn't cover that kind of thing well enough- and Voila Keith in his Special Comment even mentioned her- and Bless him for demanding an Apology- we all deserve one from this fuckhead regime...

The pic of the Soldier and the Kitten nearly brought tears. When in Nam, "we" rescued a baby pig from a burning village, took it with us, fed it, etc. Our initial plan was to eat it when it was full grown, but by that time, there was hardly a person in the squadron who could eat already butchered ham.:) Watch orders from our Commanding Officer included "feed the pig." "Nammy" we named it, and it became a star. Everybody that could came to play with our pig!:) I don't know what happened to it, as I rotated out of country while it was still living the good life, but I think it's safe to say it never graced a dinner plate.

I never thought I'd see the day we'd be going backwards yet again ; ( Perhaps after all the BS the last 5 yrs, people will finally wake up? Let's hope!
Enigma, you have to see HBO's "Hacking Democracy" soon. Needless to say, Cuyahoga County was prominently featured. No wonder Diebold wants to snuff this documentary.
I early-voted today. Our county has 345 machines, but only made 8 avail for early-voting. When I finally made it up the long line to sign in, the poll worker says, "Oh, congratulations! You're lucky voter number 911 today!" in a real perky voice. I'm aghast, "LUCKY? How can 911 be LUCKY?" She gets all sheepish, "oh, um, well, I just thought, you know ..."
"No! I don't know. In what way do you think 911 was lucky?" (Ok, now I know I'm being a pest & she just wants to get rid of me. I actually expect her to say something like, it woke this country up. To which I could respond, yeah worked out pretty well for the current regime's agenda). But (sigh), she backs off & apologizes & sends me to a machine.
I'm still queasy thinking about what she really meant & even more queasy about what happens to my vote after I hit "cast ballot". I sure hope you succeed in getting a provisional or absentee ballot.
btw, The Future (above) story was very touching. Lucky little pig, esp in a warzone. It always amazes me that people who raise an animal, knowing its personality & joy of life, can even consider killing & eating it. maybe I've just never been that desperate for a meal, so I'm not judging, just amazed. ~~ D.K.
