THE HEART OF THE MATTER

It is ironic that this is Valentine's Week, a time of succulent chocolates and professed Love, it is a time of Matters of the Heart.It is ironic that the King came to Middle America ( Wendy's Corporate Head Quarters) this week and gave a speech about Health Care for the Wealthy and Privileged.I strongly doubt that the Hamburger Flippers have much" Choice" about Health Care Options, or the DO It Your Way Accounts that the King is out humping this week.

It is ironic that Heart issues would ever even enter the dialogue at this point of this Heartless Administration.
( Especially while an old man attempts to recover from being shot dead dead on the in chest, neck and head by the VP and the subsequent Heart attack and embedded pellets leave him in ICU).
It is ironic that the local news station has been covering the Importance of the Women getting their Hearts medically evaluated and cared for. They have been highlighting that often times that women's Heart DIsease risks are missed or downplayed. It is ironic that this little issue should impact my life. I am blogging on it because the little reality check I recieved this week could , will and has impacted 1000's of women. It is a matter of Criminal Negligence.

So the President came to Middle America and gave his speech to middle class hardworking americans and due to a marshmallow shortage I only watched part of his little show. What I caught was that he supported the" Importance of Private Insurance "in this country, and the "Choices It gives people". "CHOICES" is such an interesting, meaningless word. I think the word "Choices" must mean that we can choose how we want to be robbed in the parking lot or at home. Because what it does not mean is the ability to make informed educated decisions that effect one's quality of life.

This month the local news station has been running a series to educate women on Heart issues and Heart Disease. I support this effort with great enthusiasm. It is an area that has been neglected for too long by main stream media. Women have heart problems and it is finally now being recognized as the Killer it truly is. Now along those lines, it also comes into play that much of the heart disease that affects women, often silently is misdiagnosed. Women for many years were not getting the care and evaluation that they needed regarding heart disease. Even working ER I used to see women that were having heart attacks, and their symptoms were totally different then men's. But the one striking feature of caring for these women was that many had never had any proper cardiac followup or evaluation prior to an MI in the ER. Symptoms and disease that could have been monitored and followed for many years and led to good preventitive care did not happen. So this local station has been carefully explaining and encouraging women to get good preventitive care. Explaining that Symptoms should not be dismissed and glossed over ( as women tend to do). They also have been explaining the revelance of a full history and good maintenance care. I applaud them for this work.

Now comes the Heartbreaking Truth of this story. Many women have an anatomical feature, called Mitral Valve Prolapse. It involves the actual structure of the heart and how the valves work. It is inherited genetically, it is not a risk factor that women can control or determine. 7.6 to 18% of ALL women have this feature as part of their anatomy, it is estimated the 7.6% represents the number of women that clinically present with this feature. ( But it is estimated that up to 18% have the feature, some may be symptom free and never diagnosed their entire life). It is obviously a prevalent feature, and common amoung women. It can lead to symptoms that include the following: shortness of breath, fatigue, palpitations, chest pain, or irregular heart beats. It does require a full evaluation to make certain that it does not lead to some other life threatening caridac disorder or damage. it is a health situation that with proper preventitive care and maintenance can allow the person to have a full productive life. It is just a part of a person's anatomy, just like the curve a spine or the twist of a toe.And sadly the Women have this feature,( It is estimated that only 2.5-4% of the males have this feature). The condition usually gets identified via pregnency, dehydration or simple palpiations noted. Once noted it can be further evaluated with EKG and or an ECHO. Many women also have a murmur that is an identifying factor. Again I repeat that it is not a critical issue, but an a condition that women should not have to hide, deny or be ashamed of, or be afraid to get evaluated.

Proper evaluation can lead to preventive care for dental appointments and care as well as teaching women how to take better care of their hearts.Antibiotics are needed with dental care and if not given valves can collect bacteria and become infected, leading to damage and or the need for costly valve replacement. ( No smoking, caffiene effects, and better care and prevention of Panic attacks are some of the other positive aspects of appropriate care of MVP.)

What I have learned in the past month is that MVP is a condition that allows Insurance Providers to DENY coverage to women. Even admitting that it has ever been raised and or evaluated and or a a single EKG can cancel or deny coverage for women. This means that women -up to 18% of the female population will and not and can not recieve medical care and or followup for this minor condition, much less the proper followup of any cardiac condition or symptoms, or history without risking losing their insurance.It means that thousands of women are at risk of further or worse heart problems because of having to hide this simple disorder.These women are not just denied healthcare coverage for their Heart, their Entire Body, they are denied ALL health coverage. Private Insurance is wielding a heart breaking amount of power over the lives of thousands of women.

THE DUCK DICK MOMENT

I am not a Hunting expert by any shape of the imagination. I did work PEDS and PICU in rural New England, and I also have worked inner city ER"S, so that is my experience for Hunting and Gunshot wounds.But even with my limited experience I have some questions that keep banging around my head about the Hunting Incident.

(1) Wittington has not been seen since the incident- by Anyone? No interviews given? His wife ? No photos? ( You would think that by now the White House would have found a way for some folksy warm and cozy kiss ass photo to be "produced"? )

(2) He was out in the field with Cheney's Excellent Trauma ( cough) trained team for atleast 50 minutes before they decided to transfer him by ambo- nor air medivac ? A Crack team decided that a 78 year old man didn't need trauma care ???- he was shot in face, neck, and head, and chest. ( and wasn't talking"not responsive" we now have learned from Cheney). We later learned that he did indeed have pellets in his neck and larynx. ( Did any vessels become nicked or damaged during the neck damage? His neck- throat thyroid, his AIRWAY....? )

(3) Has anyone else wondered if he had a heart attack? I mean he is 78 years old and was shot in the face and chest....Did they have to do a little CPR out there in the field?

(4) Why was he driven to the FURTHER little rinky dink hospital and not taken BY AIR to the NEAREST TRAUMA CENTER? Is it because Witty has crappy insurance?

(5)How much liquor was consumed ? Were blood alcohol levels done on Witty ?Or on Cheny at any point in the first 12 hours?
Does Cheney's Heart meds conflict or interact with alcohol?

(6)Were any of the evidence saved from the scene- the clothes, the weapons?

(7) Has anyone looked at the Hunting Reports from the previous year, how many people were shot in the chest, and head while shooting quail during hunting incidents ? ( see link below)...answer.....???

(8 )Smoking Gun has report and some witnesses listed. The best part is where they say in ironic semantic fashion that Whittington "COLLABORATES" Dick's story. ( Which considering he isn't talking due to laryngeal damage- that is just about miraculous)

(9) So the Pellets penetrated his clothes, and vest. The 30 yards theory is not holding up to that one.( Armstrong said this)
Pellets no only penetrated the clothes they penetrated his skin and oragans and tissue- heart, liver and larynx. ( I am estimating 30-60 feet, but this means visibility would not have and should not have been impaired)

(10) Silence is deafening on this, no Interviews with Family ? Lynne Stand By Her Man Cheney ? THE WIFE ?....

(11) Cheney susposedly did not talk to Bush Until WHEN???? Sunday night? Monday ? when?

The VP of our Country shot an OLD MAN in the Face, Head, Neck and Chest and here it is Thursday Feb 16th, and he is still in ICU and susposedly had a heart attack and suffered a pellet in his heart, liver and larynx. He also may have up to 200 pellets in his body, and if there are lead based that is quite a bit of lead.

And VP didn't give a press conference until WED to Fox....the shooting was on SATURDAY ????

Those are some of my nursey questions....I don't know enough about hunting....maybe this is a new Fair Game.

THE KARMIC PLAYGROUND

Do we teach Our Children the Truth ? Do we teach them how to look Evil in the eye and not flinch, not walk away ? If there is a Bully on the playground do we tell our children to smile and share milk and cookies and hand over the lunch money?
Especially if the Bully is pushing smaller weaker kids around and kicking sand in their faces? Especially if the Bully is Lying about it to everyone within listening distance? And if the Bully has his own little thug gang, do we tell our children to be silent ? Do we tell them to run and hide, or do we tell them to fight back ?

You and I know the Answers to these Questions of Conscience. And we know that what we tell them and how we act and what actions we take does matter, Everyday, not just sometimes. We know that we read them "The Emperor's New Clothes" , not realizing that we were bound to live IT in front of our children. We know that one brave child spoke the Truth, but they learned to Speak Truth to Power.

The Lesson is that What We Live is What we teach Our Children.
Speak it Well and Speak it Loudly and make sure that People Hear you.
Our Children are Listening and Watching.
There are no Second Chances at the Karmic Playground.

Florence, My Grandmother

I know that I mentioned Flo in the post about my Great Aunt May, and I was going to write about her this month. Since I mentioned her, I think I should go ahead and write about her, and she holds a special place in my heart. And since this Administration is not honoring the Women of this country- I will go ahead and honor some. And later in the month I will explain Why I am honoring these women and holding them dear at this point.

Florence was born in July 18, 1914. She was named because her parents were in Italy right before the World War. She was concieved on this holiday trip, and yes in Florence. ( and yes she was grateful that she had not been concieved in Pompeii or Milan). In the 1980's we discovered that she shared her birthday with Nelson Mandela- and she really liked that , said it was an honor.When she was little she was called Florrie. As she grew up she became Flo, and as my grandmother I called her Mimi. She was married to my grandfather Ted, he was a staunch Republican, and she was a Closet Democrat. ( Which mostly means that her husband and mother-in-law Granny Ethel did NOT and would not ever know that was a Democrat and she had voted for shhh Kennedy).

Now here is the thing, I got on my mother's nerves, for a whole bunch of reasons. I am a little bit of a tomboy. I like jeans, not dresses. I read too much, and I am pretty shy. All of these things used to irritate my mom. So my grandmother used to take me to do errands and hang out at her house. ( Now just to let you know- yes my family is fairly dysfunctional) But in the long run this arrangement worked because I got to know my entire family, especially my Aunties. I learned from them, their manners, and the Code. How to treat people, how to accept things and get on in life. So Gwennie may have been annoyed with the skinny peeked child, but the Aunties called me the Keeper of the Castle.

Now back to Florence, and the reason she was a Closet Democrat. She loved Ted, and she said that she had decided a long time ago what mattered and what would only cause pain. And she also knew that Ted, who was headstrong and ALWAYS right would waste alot of energy trying to talk her out of her political views. She also was still raising a teenager when I was growing up, so she was striving to be openminded in the 1960's. ( My Dad's sister is 12 years younger than him). But mostly she wanted Peace at home. She also truly loved Ted, she loved him more than she loved fighting is what she used to say.

There love was documented in small beautiful ways. In the downstairs hall closet I used to go in there to raid coat pockets for
Cinnamon Gum and Lifesavers.I used to love inhaling the smell of cherry pipe tobacco and my grandmother's White Shoulders perfume. The coats were hung with care, and the greatest secret was in the pockets of those coats and the golf bag. There were little love letters and note neatly tucked and folded. ( And yes, of course I read them....and someday I hope I find some notes in my pocket like that....).

Flo was beautiful, she had smokey blue gray eyes and wavy auburn hair.( And yes, thank my stars I have her eyes, but that also means I end up looking into her eyes everyday). In the 1920's, and early 1930's she was a flapper girl, complete with beautiful beaded dresses, and dancing slippers. ( And yes, my mother Also Sold THE DRESSES in a yard sale...my fury had NO Limits). She was born to a wealthy family , the only girl. She could have been spoiled, but she wasn't. She was one of the most giving people I have ever met. She was well schooled, spoke French, and painted and read, danced, and had beautiful gardens. Her yellow roses were incredible.

She was also a terrible cook, and had maids and cooks. ( Which she used to joke saved her marriage).So going to her house meant that I got to spend time with Ida, Cal and Annie ( the maids), and in many ways they were as special as the Aunties.They ruled the basement where they had sleeping quarters, a dressing room. In the laundry room they had a radio with Aretha blaring and the Kennedy Brothers hanging over the dryer.Sometimes I was sent down there to help, and other times I just liked to go sit on the dryer and listen to them and the radio.

Flo was a Real Lady. She had class in all the ways that mattered. She also was the Grand Dame in the neighborhood. If someone died, she organized all the neighbors. And that also was true if there a divorce, she was the first one to bring flowers, Silbers Cookies and support. She also looked after the Aunties who were all older in years, Aunt May downtown,
Granny Ethel in her little apt, and Elizabeth uptown. All of them were in varying degrees of vision loss- and all more stubborn than the next. By the time I was 16, I was helping her with the grocery, library, and doctor appointment runs for these stubborn ladies. And my mother periodically would need relief from the Twins . ( Yes I am a twin). So we would go stay with Mimi. And my mother would go Rest somewhere for weeks at a time. ( I never asked). And my dad worked out of town all the time.

Now Flo was interesting. I found out when Bobby Kennedy died and she was crying in the basement with Cal that she was going to VOTE FOR HIM...I was stunned. I watched these two women cry. Cal asked if she could have off to go pay her respects as the train passed and Flo said yes, by all means. I watched them that week in June , 1968, how they would hand Kleenex to each other, and pat each other gently on the shoulder and sniffle as they went about the house. Cal eventually lived down in the basement that summer because her apartment downtown got burned in the Riots. And that is why Flo was so insistant trying to get May to come uptown, but you know that didn't happen.

When I was in nursing school I went to visit my grandparents down in Florida,by 1980 they spent year part-time in South and part North.My grandmother had emphysema, so she did not do well with the cold. That summer, she showed me a lump under her arm, and I told her that she should be checked. She insisted it was nothing. I even called her doctor and asked him to check her for breast cancer. He was a SOB, and informed me that nursing students should not be diagnosing people, especially relatives.I almost ripped the payphone right out of the wall, and I was not the most polite creature.That fall she was run down, and I kept asking what the doctor said. he put her on vitamins and told her it was" probally hormonal, change of life "etc.( I told her that was absurd, that she was 68, she needed a BETTER doctor). Valentines day I called to wish her Happy Valentines day and ask if she got the Dark Chocolates I had sent. And I was going to tell her I was engaged. She told me that she had finally gone to Another Doctor.

Her initial Diagnosis was Breast Cancer, she was 68 years old. She had 4 lumps in one breast and it was also in 19 nodes.The doctor told her it was "Treatable". She told him she wanted to keep her hair, especially if she was going to lose both breasts.
( "I don't mind being flat, but my hair is another story). I was the first one to talk to her after she got the diagnosis, she had not told Ted yet, he was playing golf.She had just met with the doctor. We talked and came up with a plan. She was so calm. She must have asked 20 times if I was upset.

She fought it bravely and worked hard to stay ladylike, that mattered to her.And due to Ice Cap treatments she did indeed keep her hair. I spent my vacations down with them. She would send me to cocktail parties with Ted, I was to spy on the ladies and pick out the ones that were okay, acceptable.
"If he is going to spend time with people after I am gone, I need to know that good folks will look out for him, and if there is one that is kind to him I can live with that". It took my breath away. I was stunned. ( And yes, believe it or not she did pick out a new mate for him before she died, yet neither Ted or Helen knew that.But that is a story for another day).

I went to see her Thanksgiving 1986, she was 71 by then. I knew that she didn't have much time. She met my new husband. She had been too sick to come to the wedding. She was gracious and kind to him. And she was so sick by then. She ended up having lung cancer with the breast cancer. She would daintly cough blood into a napkin or a kleenex. ( I never smoked again after that trip).I watched Flo and Ted slow dance to It's a Wonderful World in the Living Room, gracefully manuvering around her oxygen tubing, it took my breath away it was like they were 23 again.

I went home to Vermont and on Christmas eve I recieved a package from her. She and I had always shared shoes, I wear a size 10.5AAA ( which for womens is huge).I thought oh good, shoes. Then I opened the package,and inside were her very favorite golf shoes white goatskin with lavender stitching.I had joked at Thanksgiving time that golf shoes would work to walk to and from the Hospital for work on the icey hills.As soon as I touched those shoes I knew that she was gone. I sat on my front steps and just cried as I held the shoes.

On that very day, Christmas eve 1986 My grandfather called and said that she had died at home, and that all of the Hospice plans that we had put in place had made it so much easier. She sent him to the store and he was gone 10 minutes, and when he came home she was gone. They were married for 50 years.He said that he didn't understand why she left when he was gone ,and I explained that it was easier for her that way. She could not bear to say Goodbye to him.

These women are ever present with me, as I try to raise my son and be a good mother, especially these two.They tried hard to give me lessons about Dignity and Strength and Compassion. I am trying to honor them and their lessons. I know that they were right that we Must try to look out for each other and do the right thing. I know that they would have supported me as a Whistleblower.These women taught me how to take care of people, how to Listen, and so in many ways they did indeed make me a better nurse. I know that they would have understood why I am now divorced, even though I am the first in the family ever. ( Although truth be told, Aunt May admitted that she would have made a lousy wife, she called her men the "library"). They would have understood my rage with this Administration for abandoning and mistreating so many and taking this country into a false war. And yes I know Aunt May would have called Mr. Bush names and had to put money in my swear jar.That is all from the Enigma tonight.

THE RETURN OF THE PRAGMATIC PUSSY

See here is what I don't understand. People are being mistreated in this Country, by their own Government. Now we know that I have very strong opinions about this. For a review for those new to the Enigma Cafe. Here is the story until now , the Enigma is a mom, a nurse, she blew the whistle on a BIG EVIL Chemical Company that is very very cozy with the Bush Family. And yeah, most of January was devoted to letting the Enigma Vent and Explode and find her way with her own fury. Because in December she had this amazing little Epiphany that the Big Bad Evil Company was not spying and harrassing her all by it's lonesome, it might indeed be the Big Evil Government.And when Reality hits it is hard to walk in one's vomit and see straight.

And what led to this lovely little Realization? Try this: My crates were shipped from California to Ohio- where I lived with my son for over 18 monthes while running from the threats and harrassment ( and yes it's true 5 moves since October 2002 will drain the crap out of any normal, or somwhat human, much less a pissed off mom). Now the Shipping Company called twice and said that due to Homeland Security Rules and Regulations I had to DECLARE what was in the two crates.AND THAT REGARDLESS OF WHAT I DECLARED, THE CRATES WERE GOING TO BE OPENED AND INSPECTED WHILE BEING SHIPPED AND CHECKED FOR EXPLOSIVES. I stated that they were the earthly possessions of my son and myself, mostly Books, Homeschooling supplies, and Sentimental Crap,Kitchen stuff, and of course BOOKS and MUSIC and kid stuff- like Lego....I was honest I have Nothing to Hide ( Not as much could be said the Evil Chemical Company). The Shipping Company was VERY vague WHO was going to Inspect the Crates, and I never got a clear answer. But let's just be honest I picture Big Hairy Goons with Homeland Security embroidered on their Uniforms.

So In Late November the Crates Arrive and Guess what, ONLY 6 out of 20 Boxes of Books arrive.....yup SIX.The Fuckers did put the empty boxes back in the containers.( So who would have thought the Goons could READ and would like books, or maybe they have orders to burn them). So what was missing, you ask incredulous and worried. I am glad that you asked... Here is the INVENTORY:
VIDEOS:Mixed Nuts, alot of Sentimental Christmas Videos, alot of John Stewart,Opus videos,Wallace& Gromit, Monty Python, My Son's Favorite videos and documentaries,and his little 13 inch TV.
BOOKS:The Prophet, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,Anthropology,History, Primates, Gandi, Buddha, Religous Books,Geography, Native American Studies, It took over 10 years to collect these for my son.
KITCHEN STUFF: Pots & pans, chopsticks, teapots ( I collect them or did), Mugs my son made.
TRINKETS:stuff you collect from trips with a child, shells, rocks, and silly pins.Stuff that is Irreplacable.

SO HERE IS THE TEN DOLLAR QUESTION WHAT IS EXPLOSIVE ON THAT LIST ABOVE- DID MRCHERTOFF MAKE UP SOME SECRET LIST WHAT IS EXPLOSIVE? I HAVE A THEORY THAT WHAT WAS EXPLOSIVE WAS THE LETTERS THAT THE LITTLE NURSE NURSE WROTE TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, AND THE COMPANY CALLED UP AND SAID HEY GEORGE DO YOU STILL HAVE COINTELPRO? NO WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR RETALIATION? OH, HOMELAND SECURITY AND TERRORIST WATCHLISTS, THAT WILL WORK , THANKS.

So Mr. Bush, You Lying Sack of Chicken Shit- Let me get this straight, you view me and my books as EXPLOSIVE? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? AND MY BIGGER QUESTION IS WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH OUR ELECTED REPS THAT THEY ARE LETTING THIS ADMINISTRATION RUN THIS COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND? DO ANY OF THEM HAVE A SPINE? THE WHAT IF GAME

I homeschool my son, which means that What he learns and How he learns is my job. It is a job that I hold prescious.He likes to point out he has had to "endure" 5 years of Mr.Bush, and that he does not know what America is susposed to be like, he is only 14. He likes to point out that the Consitution and the Bill of Rights that I have now spent years teaching him don't matter to Mr.Bush. He also points out that Mr.Bush has not read History Books, American or World History.He also has been taught that part of how he learns is by disagreeing and asking questions. And he also knows that if he asks enough questions, he will end up being told to go look it up. Which means I have encouraged him to Argue, and fight for what is right. Which means that if he was in a regular school some poor teacher would be peppered with questions, and he would be in trouble alot.But his ability to think and question is intact.

He likes to come in my room, usually at bedtime, and ask some Killer Question.
KILLER QUESTIONS:
" Has any other Country ever bombed another another for Democracy ?"
"And what Kind of Democracy is that- that requires Bombs first ?
" If Mr.Bush has had to spy on 1000's and listen and read emails and letters of so many, that means he does not really trust his own people ? I guess we are lucky he has not arrested more...or maybe that is a matter of time?"
" How come the Elected representitives are all clapping , don't they realize that they look guilty too?"

So last night we learned that the Senate did indeed vote to vote and end the debate of Scumlito and I guess we now for sure we will be seeing his Stand-by-Her-Bigot-Man Olivia Dehaviland reholpolstered wife up in the balconey with Mrs.Prozac tonight. And so sometime between the Vigorous Debate and the Cloture Vote The Democrats lost their Balls, can Anyone explain that to me.Is it like a Game of Clue? Frist did it in the Coat Room with a Hanger? ( okay I admit that sounded rude, but 38 NAYS and then for cloture it was down to 25???) I mean did they leave them over at Signatures Resturante? or in the Hillary's handbag? I want to know damnit, because it Mattered.,,,and it still does.I have seen newborn chimps at the zoo with bigger ones.

That being said I am grateful for Kennedy and Kerry for giving it their best shot, and if all of us need to write and call and raise Hell again I would do it in a Heart beat- because it was better than sitting here on my ass waiting to be spoonfed More Badshit Results. It was worth the Fight. ( and yeah , I need to put $7.45 in the Curse Jar for this post- so just grin and bear it- this is raw baby)

Now that being said, tonight is the King's Big Moment in the Pompous Delusional Spotlight . THE KING'S PRESS CONFERENCE: I LOVE LIVING IN A POLICE STATE

Now you all know that I hate waking up and having a Elvis moment. I had a good American morning, I woke up and walked my dog past the homeless people sleeping on grates on my broken urban streets. And then midmorning I made the fatal mistake of turning the TV on to check on the world's events with my morning caffeine. And yes, there he was the King Criminal driving the podium for a "Special Presidential New Conference" grandstanding the View. Now other than I was not fully stocked and prepared with my Marshmallow Weaponery, it actually had some little highlights that were worth suffering. ( I do Hope to hell that Fitz was watching and taping). I am struck that he now out pretty much daily whoring his Illegal programs, as he was just on the screen less than 48 hours ago. It reminds me of Nixon, and how he went on camera EVERY chance he could snag to attempt to rewin the people.Sigh another Glory Watergate Memory. Fine, he can keep coming out and giving these Watch&Cringe Speechs, it does not make the Case for Innocence.

In some ways I do feel Imprisoned in my own country and having the King give speechs every two days does seem to confirm that the Regime is attempting to make their Own Laws is enforcing that Concern. For most of four years they operated in Complete Secrecy, and now because they are out every few hours telling us WHY they Broke the Laws and violated Constitution I am susposed to magically Absorb that revelation and feel oh-so-Safe ?

(1) First he kept humping the NSA spying program was Legal and the Constitution was NOT "circumvented" in ANY way . ( The more he said it with a snicker and a sneer and a stutter it continued to lose steam over the reporters). He is now saying that the World is a different place and those 1978 FISA laws just don't apply and that Micheal Hayden of NSA is USING the Spying the way that it needs to be used. He would not address that he basically has destroyed ANY credibility of the FISA Court or the legal process of That court. [ I could not help but wonder if the judges of the FISA court were watching and cringing]

The reporters tried to ask about the Illegal Spying ( and Finally that Damn "Eavesdropping" word has been deleted from the dialogue). The King made it pretty clear that he and Micheal Hayden had a stratgy meeting yesterday, and that it is going to be very difficult to give much information to ANY Upcoming Investigations without giving up National Secrets.

(2) Katrina came up in the dicussion. The President seemed a bit miffed and peaved that the State and New Orleans have not come up with alot of Preparedness Measures as the White House has requested.It is really hard to come up with Preparedness Plans when the state is in obvious shambles. Oh, and Nevermind that He has not been Forthcoming with the Documents and Data about WHO Knew What WHEN before Katrina whalloped NOLA into Oblivion. Never mind that there was 44 page MEMO warning the Whitehouse 48 hours before Katrina HIT. Nevermind that Brownie is a Criminal that should be charged with Knowing Endangerment and other crimes.

(3) Those Damn Abramoff Pictures came up atleast five times, and he was miffed that it was a subject that would not go away.He claims that he is photographed many times , especially at Christmas. He would not answer Where the Photos are, but it is clear that there are indeed photos.It was also VERY unclear if the Whitehouse has been Helpful to the case in supplying said photos.He repreatedly said he doesn't "know the guy". Yet, he Expressed NO concerns about the misuse of money, or that his chief folks are being Investigated for stealing and misusing millions of dollars, not even one iota of some of that fake "Ain't it awful" carpetbagger crapola.

(4) He also reminded us that his speech next week is going to be the same ol' "Peace& Prosperity" speech that he always gives. He is going to focus us on the Wondrous Economy. Good I will invite some Homeless and some Katrina Refugees up for that golden delicious moment. And hell Maybe even some Ford Employees.And maybe some homeless VETS with PTSD would like to come heave marshmallows with me as well.

(5)Here's the thing Mr.Bush don't come driving the podium in my living room unless you can say something Meaningfull or atleast half truthful. And don't come on my screen every 48 hours and try to convince me that you have the RIGHT to spy on me and my neighbors. You don't have the Right. Even Criminals get Air Time, but it doesn't make them law abiding. It's called Propaganda.

He talked about the King and His Men participating in High Crimes and Misdemeanors, and that it is time for Checks and Balances, and Accountibility. It is time for Whistleblowers to be protected. ( Words that melted the Enigma's ol'pissed off heart). He Spoke with conviction that the Congress and the Senate Better Start doing their Jobs for the People. He actually showed us What a Real President Can look and Sound like.

So the King went to a nice whitebread college in Kansas, and the students were properly scripted and coached for this contrived event. So the Incompetent Cowboy bellies up to the podium to await the nerf questions. He leaned all over that podium looking for another JimBeam coaster to absorb these Quesions or his Script for the Contrived Unscripted Kiddies. Why the Hell No One gives him a Breathalizer before he drives the podium is beyond me.

Yet sadly NOT everything went to script, some damn girl must have read the New Rolling Stone Magazine about THE BUDGET. She had the Nerve to ask about the Slashed, Raped , Pillaged Student Loan Program.
"Excuse me , but can you tell us Why 12.7 Billion dollars is to be CUT from the New Budget, and how that will help College Students ?" And the Kowboy King did the proverbial Reach for his ear, feigning Cochlear Damage. The Poor Girl had to REPEAT the Same Question THREE Times before he could HEAR it. ( actually Kudos to the well spoken Audacious Lass, because this way her Question got Plenty of Air Play). It was also So Interesting that the Questions now come to the King from the Air, I guess the Media and CSpan have been Ordered to NOT show the Godamned Citizens when discussing the Godamned Consitution.

And yet another godamned liberalass student had the nerve to ask the MagnCumLaude Question asking if the President Enjoyed the Movie BrokeBack Mountain. The President blushed all cowboy-like-allshucks-you -caught-me-naked-mama look. And When I moved and I shipped ALL of my favorite Books, Rachel Carson, and SCIENCES, and yeah, Albert E., and Buddha, and ALbert Schweitzer, and Oppenhiemer, Edison, and Ben Franklin, and Euripideses, and hell even Books about Martin Luther King, Biko, and the Kennedy's.Did my books arrive in my new home- my fifth in 2.5 years due to harrassment and threats ? Hell. No, because the Goons took "stuff" out of my shipping containers while "checking for explosives". Yeah. They took my godamned favorite books.

And hell, I am a sinner. I go to the nearest Walmart every two weeks and I tidy and rearrange, I put the Gun Magazines behind the damn knitting magazines so kids won't see them. I been doing it since Columbine. Yet you Fuckers Check my packages and mail for Explosives and Weapons, you even put stickers on my packages and tell me you did this. Didn't your little SS Homeland Security Goons feel kind of STUPID checking my packages for Explosives- and Stealing my books on Buddha and Ghandi ? And didn't they even feel stupid going through my trash and my house , looking for what ? Am I a Criminal because I read ? Care About People ? Worked as a Nurse ? Took care of my neighbors ? Reported Poison? Does the President KNOW what it feels like to be spied on, have one's home rooted through? Am I terrorist ? NO Am I a Criminal? NO.

I have been hitting the Blogs again I am still noticing this trend on more moderate blogs and also in the Media to back down about this Spying issue. I wrote last month about this issue and how critical it is ( see the Enemy Within ).
And if one more little size 2 Twinkette in Vera Wang on the screen calls it "Eavesdropping" I may have to start throwing something sturdier than marshmallows at the TV. I am sick of Religous Geesus crap and Military uniforms paraded Fauntleroy Style across my screen giving speeches about protecting the Homeland. See after my home has been entered illegally numerous times in the past three years, I don't really know much about "security", especically at home. And some other time we can talk about what they did to my Medical Records and Library and Bookstore records. ( or you can read my post from earlier in the month about Closing the Cafe).

( Anyone that has a 14 year old will tell you that they can humble you with a single look,especially when they are 6 ft 4inchs). He pointed out that for over two years I stayed up night after night emailing people and writing letters- 1000's to help lead to the demise of the Evil Chemical Company."You fought them with words, not money". He told me to just listen to other people. It was about listening to the Lesson, listening to Others, and not to my own despair.The Battle is only half way over, but it isn't over, unless I let them win....and I can't do that. CLARIFICATION and a REALITY CHECK :
I think I need to explain a few things.....

(1) I am in no way apathetic, and have in no way stopped caring about What Happens...I care deeply, if anything too much...I am fiery, I am passionate about anything that hurts people. I also have guts, and even at times courage....

(2) For those that don't know the Enigma's Tale- it goes something like this ....I was a Whistleblower on a Large Toxic Case in the West, and the past Four years have been Beyond Hellish, harrassment, death threats etc. ALL of which worsened considerably under THIS Regime. The Enigma has been through ALOT, because she reported a Very naughty Criminal Chemical Company to this Regime. ( Much worse than Erin's Story- makes Hinkley look like Disney). The Company is held in High Regard by the Bush Family- I obviously did not Know that until TOO late. Since 2002 I have had to move FIVE times, I have lost family, friends, homes, and pets, and oh, that's right, A marriage....and am still trying to raise a son. Who wisely pointed out that I have been trying to teach him the Constitution for FIVE years????

(3) So here is the thing, I have had Mail opened , and rooted through like frenzied gerbils, I have had Christmas Packages gone through- torn apart and stickers put on my packages saying that it "was checked for explosives". ( yeah, I am a nurse and a mom). And MY house rooted through numerous times, and I was NOT ALLOWED to file reports with the FBI, even though I was a witness on a Federal Case...Anyone Figuring this out yet??
( cause this ain't just about the King being allowed to ilegally "Eavesdrop"...and it sure as shit is not about Protecting you or me from Osama)

(4) A year ago when I was very sick,and needed to fly for Medical Care, (due to Crappy Insurance I needed to travel out of state for medical care), but then I found out that I could NOT fly because I am on a No FLY list, so I tried to take a train to get care....and the train broke down THREE times ( our country 's Infrastructure is in the toilet).

(5) I have had my Medical Records EVAPORATE from five different Doctors Offices....Do you have ANY idea what is like to walk in to a Dr's office and have an empty file?....especially when you are sick?

(6)My favorite Bookstore in California requested I ONLY pay for books in cash- because Someone had come there requesting records on what I was purchasing...and they were "Uncomfortable"...( yeah, they were uncomfortable)
( Yeah , I read books on Environmental Forensics, Soil analysis, Community Health, Toxic Waste, all very Scary stuff )

(7) So here is The Thing, the Reality Check...it was So Much easier when I could Blame my Problems on the Big Scummy Chemical Company, but now I see that thanks to me Requesting and Assisting Federal Investigations because ALL of my family and friends were being poisoned, the Company called on Bushco and I am on EVERY Fucking List you can think of...ME!!?? A Mom. A Nurse, a nice normal patriotic mom...I am More than Disgusted, Disheartened, Sad, Frustated.....
And I did Everything that you could think of....I went to the Media.....I have done Everything to protect my son and myself...
and for what ? ( Everything includes reports to Human Rights Watch, ACLU, and EIGHT Senator's Offices)
The President of the Company is GOOD Friends with the Bushs, and this is my Fate, My Punishment ??!!

(8) So I thought I would Blog, that it would bring some peace, a place to vent, to connect with what is left of My Country,
to write, to think, and hell, maybe even find and give some Hope...But right Now I don't feel Like I have Anything to give.

and then transferred to Atlanta. He was in the Hospital last week, but still wanting to

You have been spying on Citizens, secretly, under false pretenses and utilizing multiple agencies to carry out your demands. We learned two weeks ago that Pentagon has been keeping files and investigating Peace Activists and Anti-War Protestors, and others of" Concern". That means that you and Mr.Rumsfeld are afraid of Quaker Grandmothers that Bake cookies and hold "meetings" ? What makes them terrorists? We have watched you and Mr.Cheney fight our Elected representitives over Torture, as more and more stories come out about Rendtion: secret prisons and planes and Individuals tortured. And now we find out that you have been spying on American Citizens Illegally for Over three years, and misusing powers and laws and agencies to do so. We learned that even though you had the access and power of the FISA court and the Patriot Act you Needed Other ways to Spy on citizens. You have Violated the Constitution that you promised to Faithfully Uphold and the very laws that you vowed in January 2001 to Faithfully Execute.

Presidents that Lie to the Citizens and the Congress and do not uphold Our Laws are Impeached.

We have learned that 1000's of Citizens have been monitored, emails and also phone calls. We also know that you have authorized the FBI working in Conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security to monitor and Investigate people's records, including Library Records, as well as Medical records, and book purchases. If the Patriot Act even allowed your Administration do spy in this manner, WHY would you need More Ways to Spy by using the NSA in an illegal Manner. BROKEN MIRACLES IN THE WEST VIRGINIA ,12 DEAD MINERS

BREAKING NEWS: OR BROKEN NEWS....BROKEN MIRACLES DOWN IN THE HOLLOWS.
It is 3:08 in the morning,Finally a Press Conference was held by the Company, and the Bossman came out and Admitted that the 12 Trapped Miners were found Dead, and one Critical. Why the Sam Hell it took More than FOUR hours to identify 12 DEAD people, I can not even begin to Fathom.
( I have been watching TV for hours and I have been following the Miner Story. It is in my Blood. I come from kin in West Virginia and Kentucky, I have studied Mines a bit, but that is a story for another time. Please read this I am only writing what I am seeing , there are no online updates or accurate information to give with this post)
( Now at 2:46am Lynnette Roby with her son and daughter Kiki and Travis came out of the Church and ran over to CNN Anderson Cooper and told him that the News was Wrong. She told Anderson that the Mine Owner had come to the Church at 2:30 am and he said that only Errors Were Made and that there was only one survivor. She also said that he had come to the Church earlier and said that the Miners would be brought to their loved ones before they went to the Hospital, but that now the families were being told that the Miners were indeed dead.The families were horror stricken and you could hear yelling and screaming and fighting up in the Church. Right after this interview The Press Conference began by the Bossman of the Company).

At 10:30pm we were told that the Miners had been located and were told that the Miners were Found, and found Alive. That the Waiting Families were told this information waiting at the Church. And yet, all eve only one ambulance went by. CNN spoke with the local hospital, and the ER doctor they said had been dispatched to the site. ( As an old ER nurse I am thinking that is not a good sign, sometimes in small towns the ER doctors are also the Medical Examiner). Yet the company said Nothing, and there was never a Press Conference, UNTIL 3am. Most of America has already gone to bed, thinking that the Miners were Alive, because NO Company Statement was issued. ( As of 11:30pm I switched over to Dave Letterman, and I was still thinking well they say that the Miners are alive...so I was thinking well, we'll see how many to go to the Hospital and what condition they are in).

[No Families or Media were allowed to the mine site, and the Results of the Carbon Monoxide levels have never been made public, the ones obtained by a robot yesterday. So I am still thinking that Something is NOT Right. So this was nagging me....and so at 3am I am thinking whelp I will check CNN one more time and see what is going on, and that is when I see the Press Conference... and the Redfaced Bossman is giving a conference, and admits that the Carbon Monoxide levels were well above 300ppm. That is too high, not compatible with life for long periods of time.Dead Canary High.}

The Bossman ( his name was not on the screen) said that he went to the Command Centerto Celebrate the Miracle and he found out 20 minutes after the Initial reports and that some were Dead. NOW WHY the hell NO ONE said Anything? It would not be hard to give a report and say "We are concerned that some of the Found Miners may be Critical or Dead". These West Virginia Folks are smart- they know mining, hell if they knew how high the Methane levels were , those families would have been prepared for the worst.( I think it was very deceptive of the company not to release the levels earlier- it means they knew that the Company fostered False Hopes and caused the families pain they certainly did not need).

Even in the past three years since the last wretched Mine Disaster ,it is known that many Protective Regulations have been rolled back and altered and it Deserves Scrutiny. ( The Company was operating with a slew of Safety Violations, total of 208 , enough to close the Mines). I also find it very odd that the last time that this happened in Pennsylvania, there were atleast hourly accurate updates. Once the families were confined up in the Church and the Media and the families were not allowed at the Mine site and Media not IN the Church, I think some Problems are going on. At the last Disaster, Equipment was shown, Mining Experts on site were Interviewed and Information was shared, partly because when information is shared this keeps Families Calm. I am wondering now that Mining and Energy is under the Government Reigns and Clouds of the Defense Dept. and Homeland Security did not BLOCK effective Communication to Media and Families. And it is also very obvious that the COMPANY was controlling the Outlet of ALL information. But if you were watching like I was you would have seen that the Media Coverage was Muzzled and Ineffective. And it was not for lack of trying, CNN, MSNBC and even Fox had all their best in place.The Company had HOURS to Correct The Mistake, instead they let the "Good News " sit for Hours.The Company let the Families "Jubilate and Celebrate" said the Bossman.

Randall MacCloy is the only survivor Minor, 27 years old and he is in Critical condition and was unconscious. He is now on a ventilator and being transferred to a Level One trauma level.

Sago is a small town, a Company Town, a mere Hollow in West Virginia, 418 people that all view each other as Family. Why did the company lie to these good hardworking people after 40 hours of Anguish....Ask yourself this....

We are living in a Culture Where LIES are Embraced and Perpetuated....and there is fallout...and we are seeing it. Has the Mining Regulators and Safety Monitors experienced a Femanized Agency ? And indeed the Mining Owner who knew 20 minutes after the Miners were found that they were indeed Dead, WHY didn't he say Something. I guess we do indeed have another Heckuva Job Brownie Award to give out ?- to MrBossman ( Mr Hatfield Blaming the Miscommunication....Now I don't know ALL the details , but Intentionally letting these families wait at that Church to see their loved ones for Hours, that is Lying, plain and simple. And Lying by Omission of Facts Doesn't Clear ANY Blame.)

One Family member ,Anna, one brave woman standing in the cold rain told Chad OBrien at 3:30 am " We was told that they were ALIVE and that they was going to bring them up here to the Church, then we heard Nothing for Three Hours. No one said Nothing. We Deserve the Truth, we are Americans, People should be Angry for and with us."

Families were and are so Angry and Hurt.....We should share their Angst and Rage.This Ain't Right.

UPDATE: as of today Friday January 6th, the International Coal Group has posted three small notices FINALLY on their
website about the disaster, and set a Fund for the family , and posted the names of those effected, and the Dead.

Now President Clinton could do No Right. He left with the Books in order,didn't even have to rob the poor, and didn't go Bomb anyone for OIL or any other handsome lie, and didn't flood us with fake religous speeches ( I admit they were long winded and better than sleeping pills).

WHAT got him Impeached? Or led to the Hearings ? ( after years of fake little Investigations by Mr.Starr, and 200 FBI agents and 40 million dollars). What got him in trouble was that he fell for a fat chick that lived at the Watergate, and yeah, he should not have even thought twice when he saw WHERE she lived, but ....Hey she probally was willing to fix him chicken and bisquits,and kiss his grits any time he wanted.and let's be honest guys, Who looks like she has better chicken? Hillary or Monica? ( Okay the truth is I am not a Huge Hillary fan...more on that another time).

Now I don't support Affairs, and I don't think that anyone who goes down that path doesn't realize that certain Risks aren't Inherent. But on an interview and in Bill's Book he does indeed explore WHY he did it. He has also been asked WHY and he always comes clean ( now). He says it was the WORST REASON, because he COULD. That means he Understood that it was Hubris, doing something that was granted by huge powers, and that did Not make it Right. Now if you ask Most Right Wing Nuts WHY Bill was impeached, some will say it was because he Screwed Around in office, and some will say it is because he Lied about it. ( Neither answer compared to WHAT we are living with NOW makes ANY sense and frankly seems ludricous, I mean he didn't LIE about WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION OR TORTURE ANYONE or ejaculate us into a War).

Okay, So here is What I am saying let's get this friggin show on the Road, Let's get Dubya a Blow Job. I mean it, let's just get it over with. And I don't mean no farm animals or domestic creatures ( Libby style). I mean some big ol' Buxom Babe with Breasts that reach from now 'til'tuesday, with Teased UpTexed Up Hair and Stilleto Heals, and That she bat her ol' eyes like Harriet and that she talk like Karen Hughes and walks like Condi. I mean the way that Poor Laura has been dolling herself up and that Prozac Glow her eyes have, we Know that she ain't getting Any. So what the Hell, let's send in Some Honey. And let her wear a BIG ol'gold Cross and say things like "Lord Have Mercy,ohhhh geeesus, I never have seen one that big...." ( she is talking about his eyebrow- but we don't need to know the details). After all Letterman Calls it Bush Magic, oh, let her Feel the Magic. Oh, just let her coo and let the Shock and Awe begin.

And then just like True Swiftboat fashion let her brag about it at the Beauty Parlor and to ALL her girlfriends, and then let it spread and spread.Hell let it spread through the White House "like Reporters Gossip". And that in true White Trash Style she Saves all the stained garments. ( I am sorry but of all the revelations of that whole debacle that was THE Thing that really grossed me out, Monica SAVED the stained Dress- ugh). And the BEST part, let her be a cousin of Jerry Fallwell, graduate of Bob Jones, and have a brother that is a Producer at FOX. ( Okay it is a fantasy after all..sigh).

Okay I am worried that THIS is WHAT IT will take to Bring this Bastard in Residence to his Knees...and give us back Our Country...to save What little is left of Our Democracy.

Now I am a Patriotic Woman, but I ain't his type....But I am one of the Invisible....too bad...Because someone should really Give One for the Country...And then MAYBE we could get the Impeachment Proceedings Started....

THE ENIGMA CAFE: WHAT IT MEANS

Reposted from December, this is a friendly reminder of What this Blog Means. I have once again had some problems with trolls and the trolls followed me home from some other blogs, so I am explaining my rules of little cafe.I blog about WHAT matters, and I encourage people to come here for thoughful posts and people are welcome to come for dialogue. That being said Trolls are not welcome, or tolerated and will be swept away as soon as their presence is known. All of us cope with much in our lives, this little blog should be a place to feel supported and meet and greet with like minds and souls.It should be a place that is one of comfort, a respite from todays troubled times.

I have thought alot about this Blog , and What it Means, and Where it is going. And Why I keep it going. And Yes, I was contemplating a name change, but it is destined to remain named the Watergate Summer. ( Especially now that it is No.1 when you google Watergate Summer !).

This Blog is many things, I want it to be a place where you can come to get a cup of Hope, and maybe sit a spell and Think, and sometimes laugh. And yes , somethimes I write about Things that Matter like our Kids,VETS, Homeless, and yes other times I call our "leader" a Dickhead, and that he needs a blowjob. You will never hear me call him my President, because he isn't My president. And yes, sometimes I will make you cry and sometimes I will definently give you a laugh. We need to stay Connected and Know that there is Still Humanity left in this country. We are at a CrossRoads, and what happens over the Next Year will Determine the Fate of our Democracy. I am not being morbid or cryptic saying that. We all know it is True.

And yes, in a way this Blog is a Cafe, a place to nurture and take care of each other, to get through this time. I welcome visitiors and yes Rude Trolls will be sent packing, and not tolerated. This Blog is to take care of all of us, and I can't take Care of Ignorant Fools, they have their own cafes. And because I am a nurse, yes, if you are sick or under the weather I will nag, that is just the way it is.

I started it as a place to vent, and so I wouldn't yell at the TV so much, and so my head wouldn't explode. Some of you have said I am passionate, that is true. You mess with my kid, my neighbors or my friends and you will know that the I am not to be trifled with. I was raised by Southern Women, not the wilty delicate kind, the kind that cuss, tell great stories, and drink bourbon. They also, thank heavens taught me about Southern Men that lie and scheme. ( They taught me how to play poker and chess).They also taught me Values, about Liars and Thank You Notes. They gave me a Code. A Code I can't and won't break.

And yes, over the past few weeks some of you have learned that the Enigma has a past, a darker place , and has been through Too Much.Sane but wounded. And don't be alarmed if I chose you to hear my tale, even bits of it, I want the Truth Known. And yes, I have been through Hell, and yes, believe it or Not , The Administration played a role in my past five years. And it is not a pretty story, and yes , it has left me cynical and judgemental. But I know What I lived was Real and I know Who was Responsible, and I know that me , a mom and a nurse will never be the same. I can't be and I shouldn't be. But if I have shared even part of my tale with you , know this it is because I thought you needed to Know that this Country is indeed in trouble. I don't expect Sympathy, or Heros, just Humanity.That is all.

It is about Endurance, about What we teach our children. It ain't Rocket Science.
We are at a Place in History where we will need to Shake the Trees, to shake out the Truth. Our Kids will thank us later.

So come here to laugh, to cry, and learn a thing or two, and share, and maybe even learn from each other. And yes, the Enigma is at times Fragile and at times on Fire, but will do her best to have a cafe that gives you Something...Something to hold onto....Hope.
