( so DrKnow, how can I too become a "curmudgeon" ? )
You don't want to be -- trust me.But FYI -- live in a corrupt state whose legal system is tantamount to a South American Banana Republic; have your aquaintances sell you out for cushy jobs; be chased around the country for 15 years by meddling NeoCon scum; live in a NeoCon neighborhood 2000 miles from the only people you empathize with; watch too much Lewis Black; grow old and alone. Yeah, that's the ticket. Now aren't you sorry you asked... :-\
welllll lordy Dr Know...I am half way there...Here are my Curmudgeoness Qualifications....(1) Watch too much Lewis Black- ah yup....(2) corrupt legal system and state ( well, my oh my - the delights on this one- for my adopted state of Ohio are too long to list....(3) I live with alot of fairly bitter people...(4) resiliant, but generally crappy attitude....camaflouged by a sarcastic sense of humor...(5) I have too many animals who I talk to too much(6) I throw things at my TV...(7) I am profecient at using foul languagethere is my list....can I have my membership please :-)
hhhmmmm DrKnow I think on "Occupation" on my profile I may put ...." Goddess of Curmudgeonery"
Keith is so good at spelling it all out. Great video, it's too bad none of his advisors will show it to Dubya.
Well, Enigma, with that impressive list of qualifications, I suppose I'll have to officially anoint you with the majikal wand of curmudgeon-ness. *Boink*Done and Done. But seriously....1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 we have in common. Can't get into 6 because I then have to fix whatever was broken. (Learned that very early on...) Most of what bothers me is living here -- I had all but forgotten all the previous crap until these redneck GA assholes decided they were going to manipulate some kind of a fairytale NeoCon ending to something that was and never will be anything but grief. And when "grandma" shows up outside your house with her daughter's 6 month old baby, it's way past time to disappear -- again. I'd like my own offspring, thank you, not the results of god know how many drunken binges. (Thus, the name of my blog -- Gone Like the Wind.)On a brighter note, I'm thinking of doing another cross country Escape From GA Tour, and this time I'd like to meet all the bloggers I know for a drink in their hometowns. Should have done that on the month long trip to the 9 states and innumerable cities of the NE last August, but I didn't think ahead that far. Do you think that anyone would participate, or would I end up spending a lot of time sitting in some stinky dive to no avail? It's gotta be better conversation than I get here in Red State Land.
I think you should do a Tour again...I think people would meet you...I think you would get to see the Country..and meet the Midnight Bloggers...( even the other red states...)
Midnight bloggers -- Ha! I've worked nights my whole life, seems normal to me, but others think it's weird. "Beware thoughts that come in the night. They aren't turned properly; they come askew, free of sense and restriction, deriving from the most remote sources." I've already covered every major city and all states East of the Mississippi, plus most of California and parts of the Midwest, Chicago, every city in Ohio, plus FL to Texas along the coast. Most always take the Blue Highways. As for the other Red States, I did visit an old (non-blogger) friend who is a professor of Microbiology at ETSU as I was heading to Maine, but she isn't much on going out. I rearranged the 2 tons of books in her library, at her request, and we visted the new "Don Sunquist" Dinosaur museum -- which is located partially underneath, ironically enough, an old Baptist church. You should have seen the looks when the locals read that scientists say the world isn't 7000 years old after all.Well, sorry for rambling, I'm sure you have better things to do. Got bored of sitting around here and went out for a beer at 2:00am -- came home at 3:30am. Decided to blog instead -- blank stares in lieu of conversation seem to be the norm here... Ugghh...G'Nite!
Ahhh DrKnow...I blogged off and on during the night...long story...( relates to the Missing Bottle of TUMS , that I am sure MrBig Orange Cat knows something about...it became a kitty toy sometime yesterday....and I thought that was better than him stuck in the curtain...) ( I love your description of the trip above...esp. the museum...)Get some sleep...
Marj and Maui:I forgot to say hi...( I thought I did....ooops) thanks for coming over...and yeah- Bush will never see....but Keith keeps us all sane...
