PERSON OF THE YEAR

( Okay it is NOT Going to be Bush.....but....)

So every year TIME chooses Person of the Year. It is susposed to be someone that has contributed to the year, creating change.
WHO will it be this year ? Will it be someone that makes us feel inspired ? Someone that brought Hope ? Will it be someone that makes us examine our counscience ?

So WHO do you think it will be ?

Here are Enigma 's Top Choices:

(1) KEITH OLBERMANN ( you all knew that was coming)

(2) Al Gore ( for the Inconvenient Truth)

(3) Micheal J. Fox

Friday Night December 8th Updates: Contributions from the Coffee Counter Crowd:

How about Nancy Pelosi, first woman speaker of the house? That would be fun.

since the original Time criteria has evolved from "who most affected the news, for good or ill" (e.g. Hitler in the 30's) to "who or what has most impacted world events, for better or worse, during the year" (which should have been Osama Bin Laden in 2001), I'm thinking: BLOGGERS (for better) or IRAQ WAR (for worse). ~~ D.K.

Wow DK....Bloggers or the War...Both valid..and both real..

( hmm, I might be a bit biased about the Bloggers- but I do think the Internet and Bloggers are causing change on numberous fronts worldwide..)

PEACECHICK: Hey that is a good one- but she hasn't done anything yet- I would rather see her win the Honor after her first year of ACCOMPLISHMENTS As Speaker....but we'' see....

Stephen Colbert perhaps?

Oh Brad- Excellent- hmm John Stewart too ? you know it is funny- John and Stephen really did effect the election...

Will it be someone that makes us examine our conscience?

Based on that criteria, and I swear to you I'm not being a smartass....I have to say Osama Bin Laden. Why? He should have made us examine our conscience in 2004, but the vote percentage for us was much less than 100%. With a psychopath like this one on the loose in the world? That is inexcusable!!!!

Oh - and Speaker to be Nancy Moonbeam, has done something - she promised not to impeach!!!!

AZ: ah ha..I was right you did want to comment on the list..yup it's okay- but I am open to suggestions..

BETOM: it's aokay...you can vote for him, even if you have a crush...( I do...just a bit)

FUTURE: Osama ( wasn't he on already ? I thought he was in 2001 ? ) anyways....and why 2004 ? if you mean during that election? cause I am pretty damn sure that election was fully stolen...so I don't think that was a matter of conscience...it was a matter of Theivery. And about Nancy Pelosi- let's give her a chance to be speaker- and not condemn her yet- she didn't promise not to impeach- she said it was tabled for now, BUT the supoenas are being prepared...and investigations readied..so it is not a done deal. And sorry but as she is the first woman will be operating under a microscope, and I want to make sure that she is supported as possible....sorry friend.

Future: I hope you understood what I was saying.....and that you didn't think I was being critical. I do think and Hope too, that Impeachment is not a dead issue, and I don't think one statement at a press conference is indicative that it is a dead issue....I felt she meant it more ofr "now" it was not on the table, but she also is not officially the speaker YET....and it would be bad form to address if or be all gung ho the very first press conference.

As usual, you're one step ahead of the Blog Community by asking us to think of a candidate for "Person Of The Year," Enigma.

I'm tempted to nominate you because it's time individuals from the Blogosphere such as yourself get the credit they deserve. You challenge us to think about REAL issues without the window dressing that accompanies much of what is reported in the mainstream press.

Besides yourself, my pick would be Bill Moyers, a veteran journalist who's warned us for years that the most serious threat to democracy comes from the corrupting influence of money and it is up to the people to do something about it.

Here's what Moyer's said in an excellent PBS documentary entitled, "Capitol Crimes" broadcast October 4.

"The only way to counter the power of organized money is with organized and outraged people."

"Believe me, what members of Congress fear most is a grassroots movement that demands clean elections and an end to the buying and selling of influence—or else!"

"If we leave it to the powers that be to clean up the mess that greed and chicanery have given us, we will wake up one day with a real Frankenstein of a system—a monster worse than the one created by Abramoff, DeLay and their cronies."

"By then it will be too late to save Lincoln's hope for "government of, by, and for the people."

Voters listened to Moyers words of wisdom and expressed their outrage in November. The work has only just begun though. We must continue to be vigilant and make sure that what Bush, the Baker Commission, Republicans and the new Democrats have pledged to do is actually what they are carrying out.

My nominations for "Person of the Year" are Enigma and Bill Moyers !

Does anyone second my motion ?

Peace,
Cosmic

Cosmic: I am sitting here blushing..wow..and you put in the same category with Bill Moyers - who is definently on my all time Heros list...I love the quotes you brought to the table as well.... I still miss his show on PBS....the Capital Crimes show was outstanding- but it is not the same as being able to see him every week... ( I really hope that PBS learned something from all the mistakes they made during this regime....)

I thank you for the nomination, but I am merely a blogger with a humble tattered little blog- and what makes this blog so special is the folks that come here...and share. I really do agree with DK that Bloggers should be nominated for Person of the Year...I know in my heart that Bloggers, and YouTube and the Internet Grassroots did indeed have an effect this year...and that we will save this country.....I really believe that...I have Hope....

Many Hugs to you Cosmic....
